Like others have mentioned, the movement speed is really brutal and, in my case, disincentivized exploration unfortunately. I also don't know it was a functional choice (e.g., easier/faster for you to implement) or a purposeful design choice to bind weapons to mouse, but I would have loved the option to swing my sword with a keyboard key as well so my laptop would be more useable (mimicking more a Zelda feel). Finally, would love any interaction feedback in the environment. Monsters flash when you hit them, doors highlight when you can interact, etc.
Nice job on building a little dungeon crawler - that works!! With all original art! That's huge, I hope you feel building.
Tysm for the feedback. Im really bummed i didnt spot the movement problem in devolopment :(. The keyboard attack idea is really good as well! If i ever update the game ill definately change that. And also i probably wouldve make more interaction but unfortunately ran out of time. Im so grateful for your feedback and will definately try to use it in future games :)
Additional Game Information: Use 2 to pull out your bow, new monsters appear at the 3rd, 5th and 8th round so make sure to ry to make it as far as you can to experience the whole thing!!!
Great jon on your first ever completed game!
The art for me is the standout feature, i love the look of the gameworld and the things in it! Great use of pixel art.
My main issue is that the movement speed is sooo slow. I'm not sure if you've made the player and enemy movement frame rate dependant, but if not i think the base movement speed of the enemies and the player should be way faster, then upgrades at the shop for movement speed would feel less like a necassity, and more like a choice of what to spend your hard earned money on.
Still a great submission! You should be proud of making something that looks this good that is actually playable in such a short amount of time!
Tysm for the compliments and the feedback! Unfortunately the movement isn't frame dependent and I only realise how very slow it is now (guess I just disregarded it when in testing ). Also another huge thanks for the compliments on the art! Im fairly unexperienced so it is a huge confidence booster for the praise!
Well done! I liked it! :D
One feedback is to make it more clear for what is interactable and what is not.
So maybe make the doors stand out more, or have an outline.
A minimap and a sprint option would make this game even more awesome!
Good job!
Interesting Concept. Cute Cat! Congrats on your first game!
Omg tysm for the complimenets!
I got a few rounds through before I ran out of hearts and I couldn't move anymore. The movement is very slow at first, I had to get the speed upgrade before anything else. There isn't much feedback to dealing damage or receiving damage, enemies just disappear. I like the detail in all the art.
Yeah making enemies red when hit and vise versa was on my to-do list but unfortunately ran out of time :(. Tysm for the feedback though it helps a lot!
Some parts are sort of unclear (like where the door is, or what im selecting etc), but i like dungeon games so it was fun, altho the option to sprint would be nice.
Tysm for the feedback, what part did you get up to?
i only went thru the rooms, like the heart one and back, once and bought speed then i died
