This is great!
I love the art, theme and music!
If I was to suggest some things for the gameplay side it would be:
- I like the dodge-roll! I just wish it was needed a bit more since there is nothing to dodge (yet). The mushrooms strike zones you can just walk out from.
- The damage upgrades should probably be procentage instead of raw stats. The raw stats makes the end weapons quite weak since they are just worse version of other cheaper guns for a 5-10 increase in damage, but when I can buy them my other guns already does 50+ with more bullets per shot and faster rate of fire.
- I would like a hold to shoot for most of the weapons. (strong weapons like shot guns and the rifle might be nice to have click to shoot for since that makes it feel more impactful to shoot them.)
- Coins of different values (adds some excitement to picking them up). Adjust prices accordingly.
- I would love a gun or uppgrade with bullet penetration! (or a bullet scatter on impact for some small extra damage)
Amazing game, well done!! Loved the humour, theme and pixel art. Also liked that it was quick to start. Couple of things that would've been nice:
- More sounds, i.e. when the egg grenade goes off, when you eat bread, when you get hit. And the starting gun was maybe a little too loud
- Couldn't buy a gun for a loooong time, and the first one kind sucked, but then after buying the first shotgun, it was so strong that clearing rooms took barely any time, and I steamrolled everything, including the boss, since you could shoot its bullets. You could maybe reduce the cost of the early guns, and make it so that your bullets and the bosses don't interact? I also feel like buying the most expensive gun is bad for the boss because your one bullet gets countered by their bullet storm
Great fun. Straight into the action. Boss didn't do anything at all the few times I versed it unfortunately. Feels polished and very fun. Wish there was more environmental or enemy variety. There is plenty of variety on the player but I think it could be multiplied with more variables outside the player. Overall had a blast. Great game
First of all, this was great. From the power ups to the weapon choices to the what I'm assuming is unlimited levels, very fun! I ended up getting stuck in level 34 where I was half way through the map and it said I was in a room with two doors and there wasn't a second door. So I couldn't get to the end of the level.
Here are a few of the things that I noticed when playing the game:
- You moved around fast enough that I rarely used the roll
- The boss either didn't shoot at all or shot a bit but still was super simple to defeat
- I never came close to dying except when I had forgotten what the bread was for
- More sounds would have been nice, it was hard to tell when you got hurt because the duck didn't quack in pain. haha
- I think the same upgrades are used too much, it might be more fun to make the game harder, but then also allow the player to get the awesome upgrades faster. I was close to quitting the game not because it was challenging at all, but because it was so easy, but I played until I got stuck wondering if the game ever ended or if there was some end all be all upgrade.
Anyway, great job and very impressive for a jam game!
Draekdude
thanks a lot for all the feedback! The levels are indeed limitless.
We are aware of the bugs with the boss but the weird thing not everyone is having this bug so we are going to look in to this after the jam!
We are also continuing to make more power ups! We now only had 9 because of our limited time!
Tnx for playing this much!
Oh, one more thing about the boss. I played the web version and the first time I got to the boss it didn't attack me. The second time I got to it (in the same run) it attacked. The third, it didn't attack and the fourth it did attack. Or at least I think I got to it four times in this one run. Hopefully that helps.
Really good submission! Only thing I'd change is weapon upgrade costs - they are really expensive! I wanted to try a few but I wouldn't have been able to afford them until after I played through multiple rounds. The art, music. gameplay are super cohesive.
I read other comments and realized I didn't do something that gives you all the unlocks, lol
I just love the ridiculousness of this idea. A duck with a hat and a gun fights mushroom guys in a dungeon?! Like, what's the lore? :D
This game is so full of silly ideas, well done guys! The art style and CRT shader(?) is also really good, as is the music. Overall, very enjoyable, congrats!
idk if this in intentional but c gives u free stuff i played without it and it was really fun good game guys
I don't play many of these bullet-hell type of games, so I didn't quite know what to expect. It was a bit confusing at first that the guns were aiming at the mouse position on screen, which took a while to get used to.
However, after getting the hang of it this ended up being unexpectedly fun. The game loop is quite simple, but there's some depth to the game due to the amount of content.
I really like how everything is themed around the duck ("eggstra" gave me a good chuckle =).
