Nice! Well made, well paced, neat mechanics, just overall a great game! Did find it weird that I didn't need to peck in the level that had the peck tutorial text, and had a bug happen where the black chickens kept walking after I got off them and I had to restart the level.
Mechanics felt tight, the game was funny!
I recommend turning down the sound effect that plays between levels, and keep things like buttons away from screen edges, I've noticed that unity gets cut off when not fullscreened.
I liked the creativity with the different ways to interact with puzzles and move, nice entry!
Interesting interpretation of the theme. Kinda wish it was more obvious in the gameplay as well, but it's fine. Death animation was funny and overall it was a pretty decent entry. Some mechanics were a bit underutilized, for example I never ended up actually pecking the buttons outside of one level as you can just walk onto them, but it makes sense for a game jam game. Overall, I think it's a fine entry and I liked what was in here.
Oh yeah, now that I replayed the game I noticed that level 5 is impossible without pecking. I think I might've not realized I pressed the button to the right because until like level 6 or 7 I wasn't playing in fullscreen and a part of the level was offscreen for some reason. I probably just pecked into the hole for fun because I was confused as to why it was there lol
By the way, how the hell lmao
Never thought I would like to play a game as a chicken
I love this concept... Except I feel so bad ever time I double jump because I kill an egg to save an egg QwQ OH THE CHICKENANITY.
It has a great ending and the game itself is a pretty fun platformer, great work!
My favorite mechanic was launching the eggs to hit buttons during jumps, I genuinely thought that was an excellent mechanics. I also solidly enjoyed the level design, the levels all felt fair, and challenging without being too complex or convoluted.
FEEDBACK: If I am not mistaken you used a capsule collision shape for the chicken and while that is fine, it does mean you tend to slide off edges off platforms, maybe you could do a square collision shape that only activates when a ray(or series of rays is colliding with the floor, so that it doesn't impede your jumping). Nothing major, just some thoughts.
I really enjoyed this one, and showed it to my brother. Thanks for sharing.
I had to laugh so hard when I got to the ending of the game. Great job on that comedic moment. Also the difficulty was pretty good in my opinion. Sometimes I had to think a bit about how to approach certain scenarios so that's cool!
Cute short platformer :) I'm not sure it fits the theme too well, since it's not really integrated into gameplay. The colored birds were a nice addition. It would've been good to learn about dismounting in the level before you actually introduce it.
Excellent feedback and nice chicken profile picture! ( the loop in this game is that at the start you are the chicken that came from the egg, later in the game you become the chicken that is on the roof so the game loops this "Which came first the chicken or the egg" narative, but since many have pointed this out to us we realise that we might have not implemented it in the best way... but thanks for the feedback fellow chicken!
Cute game with some nice chicken themed mechanics. Quite a bit trickier than I was expecting as well.
Love the concept and game! The false button that dropped you in the needles was devious lol
This is super creative and funny! had a blast playing it, love that art and little story also Great Work!
Fun to play! I like that the game recognizes if a chicken that's important dies and restarts so there's no soft lock
