theres something here!!! i think its a really cool idea.

it would be nice if the turrets fired faster (so like the overall loop is faster), even if they were weaker in damage to compensate, that way it can feel like you're actually building a beat. this feels like the kind of game that you could unironically jam to while playing. the issue is i think the tempos just too slow to actually sound like music.

I think that playing back the sequence is a cool idea, its difficult to actually perform though, especially if you want to look at the enemies that are on their way. Multi-tasking that is pretty tough, and whenever I play music I can only really multi-task like that when its a song ive memorized. Maybe if the towers attacked automatically to the beat, it would lessen that mental strain and also make the game easier to play, and then the focus could be more on the music and the towers, rather than timing.

A friend of mine suggested making the enemies spawn in waves too, at the start of every loop rather than continuous. Also was concerned that there was really only one effective combo of turrets.

would be interested in seeing where you take this in the future, good luck, and dont feel like you need to implement any of those suggestions. seriously no pressure.

Brilliant concept, horrific gameplay XD

I'm a huge fan of beat games (and play drums) so was expecting to destroy this game... but could barely get it to work! I really would love to see it developed further as I would totally play a more polished version loads :)

Thanks for trying my game :). It gets brutal way too fast i agree, unfortunately I didn't have time to balance it. I'm definitely going to keep working on this game and fix the balancing. Might have levels that you can complete as well as an infinite play mode. Glad to hear you would play more of it! I could ping you if you want to test future versions :)

Interesting idea but the learning curve is a bit too steep and can die very early. Anyways, great job!

Loved the idea! I think the different towers could have been explained in the game (or at least a bit more visually different), and it got pretty hard pretty fast, but still quite fun!

Fantastic idea but definately too hard too quick. Unless I'm missing a game breaking combination of "towers" no amount of perfect rythm has got me past 150s. Would love some actual music instead of a metronome!

Developer

Thanks for trying it :). You are not wrong its pretty impossible to get past 150s. Balancing and tutorial is the 2 main things I'm going to improve first when the jam is over.

I absolutely love the fusion between tower defense and a rhythm game. There’s a neat layer of strategy, where you have to plan an effective layout for your towers, while also making sure it’s a pattern you’ll be able to repeat.

I found the game a bit punishing, though. There are a lot of enemies, and they start coming before you have time to put down many towers. I was basically forced to take damage at the beginning, and later on one mispressed key would cost me dearly. I think you could give the player a bit more time to think. As is, once the enemies started flooding in I forgot about the strategy, and what key did what, and just kind of pressed randomly.

Took me a second to understand the gameplay but really like the concept! Really has some potential to be expanded upon

This is possibly one of, if not the most take on the tower defense genre I've ever played. However it took me a pretty long time to figure out how to play, I feel you could have explained it better

Really good Idea, but I think the execution could be greatly improved. It's not initially clear and not intuitive, what each tower does.

Really enjoyed this one. Very satisfying and simple loop that gets quite addictive quite quickly. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for the nice words. I want to keep working and tuning it after the jam is over.

Great idea and self-balancing!

This is a fun idea but a very tough little game! Hard to know when is best to put your laser down.

oh wow this is such a cool concept! I’m terrible at it but I absolutely loved it. Nice job!

Developer

Thank you so much! The game is brutal with current balancing so its probably not you :p
