  • GDD The GDD is great; all the information is clear and detailed, and there's a lot of love in the steps of development. Plenty of images to allow us to see how things came together. Gameplay Very interesting approach. I am too much of a coward to play more than 5 minutes of Endoparasitic, so I was concerned. But the gameplay was very enjoyable. Having only one shot per level paired with the light freezing enemies kept some of the tension created by the darkness mixed with strategic planning for that perfect shot. The mirrors and light revealing the layout of the level were a nice touch; the gameplay felt very organic. The little star on the hat being the natural light of the player was something that stuck with me; dimming it with stealth and empowering it to shoot the laser was pretty neat. The way the enemies reacted to the light was really well done; they are very responsive. art/atmosphere I loved the art style and animations. The eyes are really creepy, and the extra details you get when the light hits them were so well done. The use of shadows and reflections was great. In the future, you can use the concept of things that appear a little different in the dark to manipulate the game atmosphere and surprise the player, like the concept of an anglerfish or enemies with false eyes to bait the light. Go nuts. sound design Lovely BGM in the title menu. The game having no BGM played to its strengths. Silence adds a sense of paranoia, and you will want to listen to what hides in the darkness. The SFX worked pretty well with the setting. Little words Impressive prototype. The mechanics are solid, the art and animation are spot-on, and the ambience created with the sound design and setting was really great. Good work, team. I hope you choose to develop the concept further; this can become a fun standalone game.

I really like the game's setup – it feels like a solid prototype for something fun, well done guys! Here are a few suggestions to enhance it:
- Add angled kills (stationairy shooting enemies?).
- Introduce multiple angled kills, where some mirrors aren’t even visible to the player.

If your goal as a game developer is to prototype more quickly (which is one of the most valuable skills to develop during a game jam ), I recommend focusing on composition (if you're not already doing so). Take some time to refactor your code by breaking the logic into custom Godot nodes (e.g., health nodes, movement nodes, etc.). This approach allows you to reuse these components in future jams and significantly speeds up development. It’ll help you go from building small games in two weeks to larger projects like those from Overboy (on Itch) in just two days.

A great resource on this topic is Firebelly Games' video on composition on YouTube.
