How does your game fit the theme?
The core concept of the game is to make a long, elaborate loop by connecting the snake's head to its tail.

Woah!

A snake roguelike!

That's really cool actually

Very fun gameplay loop! I could play this for hours. There is very nice risk vs reward system with the upgrade blocks vs catching the tail early

Simple little game, I had fun for playing. At first I thought my tail will be moving as well so I think it was a bit on the easy side when it didn't.
As for feedback, after dying I would add a "restart" button and speed up the screen transitions.

Love the idea of Snake takent o the next level. Hope to see a polished version down the line.

It's so addicting, I kept playing it and playing it. I've seen a couple of snake / ouroboros themed games here, and this was definitely the most fun! There's only a few pieces of feedback I have: first, sometimes my inputs weren't registered correctly. I pressed up, and I didn't go up for example. Might be my keyboard though. Another thing is it would be great if there's one button you can press to reset when you die, for example R, that immediately restarts your game instead of having to click on main menu and then click on play. I also think the starting speed is too high. If you start slow and slowly gain more speed because of red blocks that makes the game more accessable. I think it's a bit hard for me even the first few levels.

Anyway I'd love to see a more elaborate version of this game!

Solid, easy to understand concept - easy to just pick up and play. If you repackage this for mobile I could totally see myself sinking hours into this game trying to solve increasingly harder levels when I'm just waiting around for something. One suggestion: if you can think of a good way to do it, make the snake itself indicate how far from the target length it is, so that you don't have to look down to get that info.

Nice twist on classical snake, i enjoyed playing it.
I feel like a quick restart button would've been great, overall a pretty fun, arcede-y game.
Good job :=)

I love its simplicity and unique style, it’s just like snake with a twist!

A lovely creative take on the classic snake reimagined with this loop theme, excellently done.

I do want to try and get back into the game quickly after losing but the screen transistions really get slowing down the game for me, a quick restart would have been great here!

I felt like the power ups were slightly underwhelming and I want MORE SPEED give me MORE RED! Haha.

Fantastic submission, well done!

Developer

Thanks! Yes, a quick restart is definitely something I'd include if I keep working on this game. I can't believe I didn't think about it.

I'm so glad to see this was made. This was a concept I wanted to try when I heard the theme, but ended up having to pass on. I think the execution is really neat. One big thing I'd love to see added is a quick "r" to reset so I can just keep trying rounds without having to return to main menu. But I think the implementation of the shop and red bricks are both interesting mechanics that enhance the idea. Well Done.

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, I definitely agree about a way to start a new game immediately. If I continue working on this, I'll definitely include it.

Good ol' Snake, but with a twist?!? Sign me up! I really enjoyed the upgrade blocks. Maybe if the red blocks increased the goal it would be better than just a speed up. I also think a sound for when the snake moves would have made it much easier to stay on rhythm. Overall a fun experience!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! I love the idea of the red blocks have more of a penalty, or maybe having different types of penalty blocks that could appear. Regarding the sound, it should play a nice little beep each time the snake moves. I was worried about it being too loud and annoying, so I dropped the base volume down pretty low on the sound effect. I wonder if I put it too low and it won't be audible unless a system's audio is up high? I wanted to include a settings menu with a volume control, but I didn't have time.

I really like the concept and the twist, but it felt weird that the upgrades stayed between each run. And I also think the game became difficult a bit to fast too difficult. But with more polish I would absolutely try hard that game, keep up the good work

Developer

Thanks! The upgrades not resetting between each run is a bug. I've had other feedback on the difficulty, also.  It could have benefitted from another few days of playtesting to balance and fix bugs, but I simply ran out of time.
