Lilith's Game ~ Pirate Jam 17's itch.io pageJudge feedback

- Lilith’s Game is an absolutely fantastic experience. While the quick-time events are clearly inspired by Undertale, and at least one mechanic feels almost identical, I don’t see an issue with drawing from something great, in this case, it works well. The art, though limited in quantity, is excellent, and the combination of a timer with player choices adds an interesting strategic layer to the gameplay. While Lilith’s introduction sets up the premise nicely, the explanation for the button-based quick-time event only appears during the event itself. This can be tricky, as it’s difficult to read instructions while actively performing the action. Placing this explanation in a short tutorial level or an info screen beforehand would make it much easier for players to understand and prepare for the mechanic. The music and sound effects are perfectly chosen and contribute strongly to the overall atmosphere. Your GDD is excellent, it provides all the key information and goes above and beyond by offering deep insight into the development process. Overall, Lilith’s Game is polished, engaging, and strategically interesting. With a small adjustment to how instructions are presented, it could be even more intuitive and welcoming to new players.

Summarize your game!
Play a game with Lilith! This is a turn-based game where the goal is to defeat Lilith by reducing her health to 0 within a limited number of moves.
You only have 1 attacking move that can only be used once. Strategize with your other 4 moves to power up your attacking move, increasing its accuracy, increasing your defenses against Lilith's attacks, and increase the time you have each turn.
The effectiveness of each move is decided by a rhythm-based skillcheck. Improve your skills and perform the skillchecks better to potentially do more damage.
In this endless game, Lilith will add debuffs to you to make each match harder. She may increase her own health, reduce your skillcheck accuracy, shorten the turn duration, or increase the amount of damage she can do.
Adjust your strategy and make your one and only shot count!
Please explain how your game fits the theme.
The theme of "Only One" is represented by the fact that the player has only one attacking move that can damage Lilith. On top of this, this move can only be used once. If you fail to defeat Lilith with this one move, you instantly lose.

Best Game I played in the jam so far :)
Cool spin on the Undertale combat. Level 5 is absolutely brutal, I would love to try it again without having to replay the first 4 levels.
I found it interesting that extending turns also extends Lilith's attack, so it's a double edged sword... but it's absolutely necessary on later levels.
With a few more bosses and a bit of story, I could see myself buying a game like this.
nice game, although with an AZERTY keyboard I missed 50% of the buttons I had to click -.-' (WASD for me is actually ZQSD). The easy solution for this is allowing both Z and W for (W) input and A and Q for (A) input, or allow remapping keys
its a really fun game with nice music, already loved undertale boss fights so this is just awesome
This was a nice game! The bullet hell and rhythm game mechanics were fun!
That was genuinely really fun. The trope of the old JRPG having a challenge that only lets you attack once is one of my favorites.
That was fun. I am terrible at bullet- hell type games though so I kept dying but it made me want to keep playingto get better. Have you considered adding controller support? I think that might make it more fun for some people.
Interesting "Undertale with a bit of math" =) But I couldn't tell if "Boost defence" actually does anything
