  • Slice-of-life is an unfortunately overlooked aspect of sci-fi, so this game was a welcome addition to the Nova Station jam! Using bedtime stories told by kids to scare one another was a novel way to take a very large, alien concept (space station) and segment it into a familiar, mundane experience. The worldbuilding shined the most with subtleties (i.e. “B'ulin rolls his three eyes but has a small smile on his face,” “We all groan. M'ne's antennae tap together,” “The chill that ran through my scales.”) The stories themselves were also witty and left room for speculation, which is fantastic for a game this size. If you’d like more feedback, feel free to reach out on the Cryptic Conservatory discord linked on the jam page!
  • Delightful. The storytelling format was a great choice, and even though it wasn't a long read there was some really strong worldbuilding baked into each vignette. I ran into a few technical bugs, which detracted from the experience, and some of the sci-fi jargon felt a stretch too far. I think another editing pass would make it an even better entry, but as it is the flavor and character make it an enjoyable read.

I really enjoyed the writing in this. You conveyed so much of the world through dialogue rather than relying on extensive exposition. And all three of the stories were so specific and so chilling! I got into some weird loops on the playthroughs where I told the PC's story second, but overall, I thought this was great. A lot of depth in such a short game.  Seems like the start of something bigger? I hope so!

Thanks for playing and I appreciate the feedback with the PC choosing second branch!

Who knows where I'll take this next.

I saved my story for last, cause I just knew it was going to be the best one. I liked FOV's story but I agree it wasn't that scary. I love the perspectives of these alien-like creatures! :D
