How does your game fit the theme?
The player's weapons fire automatically, with a firing pattern composed of a customizable looping beat. Beats are created through an interface inspired by loop pedals and music creation programs! More weapons unlock new sounds for the player's ever-evolving looping beat.

Wish there was a mechanic that gave bonuses for more intentional placements of the fire beats. I ended up just spreading the beats as evenly as possible and letting the chaos solve itself. I really just focused on dodging but not aiming once I had all weapons full.

Developer

we did consider that during development, our solution was to give you either too many or too few beats to divide cleanly among the four measures, so you'd be encouraged to add some variation. but in the end we figured that if you spread the beats perfectly evenly regardless, then the punishment would be that your beat just wouldn't sound very good lol

as for the weapon placements, I kind of like how it turned out- it gave the game distinct phases and kept it from being too demanding in the later stages! but the in-run progression is definitely one of the main things we're thinking about for future updates, we had a lot of ideas that would make weapon positioning a bit more important (weapons with trade-offs, movement abilities, position-based pitch, a second beat track...) but we just ran out of time for the jam version. this was already a bit much for us in 4 days, but I'm really happy with how it turned out! very excited to expand it once the rating period is done

really addictive gameplay, managed to get 7640 highscore

I spammed biggest boy / autogun and felt quite invulnerable lol

red enemies are quite sneaky and have unpredictable movements which brings gameplay diversity, this is a nice touch

is there a way to add more weapons ? or is it forced to trash previous ones ? I guess having too many weapons would unbalance the game

graphics are simple but effective, nicely done

good game and addictive!

Developer

you're only able to swap out weapons once the slots are full,  you can't get more. I found that beyond that point the beat just got too full of notes and stopped being fun to add to

thanks for playing! I'm glad you had fun, we can't wait to add more to the game after the jam rating period is done

Damn, how juicy is the game man, loved it. Music was a bliss. Got 3k score, but heppy. Great entry. Would appreciate an effort if you could rank my game too.

I love this game concept of using your weapons to the beat, great job on this game!

Great job with this game! The arcade aesthetic and shaders really pop.

Got to just over 8k with 3 lasers and 3 autoguns :)

I thought this was juicy and stylish! Original and satisfying to play. I'd only suggest putting a super obvious hint as to how to place beats on the grid your first go-around as it took me a minute to see that's what I should do, but it looked so good that I really wanted to figure it out and eventually got there. Nice work!

WONDERFUL GAME!

This was really fun to play. Being able to set up your weapons to change the music was great, and the hordes were tough to beat in later stages.

Art and sound are consistent
I think the movement needs a bit of improvement, more smooth (something like Minishoot' Adventures)
Btw, Nice work!

Great game, thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked that my guns really felt part of the beat as I added more.

I normally try to find some constructive criticism to add to all of my game jam comments, but I don’t have a whole lot to say! If anything, I think it would have been neat to see my weapons represented on the timeline just to see how crazy it gets as it gets further.

We went with a repeating audio loop as our core gameplay mechanic too, but ours isn’t player authored – it just varies per level. Check it out if you have the time, I think we were trying to do the same thing with the theme (but in different genres).

Overall, great job!

hey I played yours right before I got the ping for your comment! i really like what you did with the idea as well, my favorite part was how your bodies persisted on the screen. I'm glad more people went with loop pedal concepts, it's really neat to see everyone's music

Aayyy another music game! This was super satisfying! I loved it! Definitely one of my favourite games I’ve played so far!

hey I liked yours too! you really nailed a fun mechanic while keeping the concept perfectly simple, the playhead playing the active notes was a great touch
