How does your game fit the theme?
You as the player constantly loop around the Core + there's a special mode called LOOP where you replay a level with a score modifier

I loved this little arcade-esce experience. I really enjoyed the upgrade system. The gameplay and level progression and fast and clean. The CRT screen VFX are very nice!
It's pretty good! The enemies get interesting. The only thing is that the upgrades get kinda expensive.
Great game I WANT MORE
Thank you so much! I'll definitely consider it depending on how many people want more :D
You gave a great example of how to make your game fun and juicy even if it has a very simple idea :0
Thank you so much!
Very easy to pick up and play, thank you for including the options to disable the CRT effects. Could definitely see this game expanded upon after the jam. Could not upgrade right side of the skilltree and I think the blue enemy might have been bugged on one side unless it's intended to throw you off with different fire rates. Well done on creating a solid gameplay loop(pun sort of intended)!
Thank you so much! Yeah part of the skilltree is unfortunately bugged. As is the blue enemy. Will hopefully fix these after the rating period. Thanks for playing :)
Enjoyed it! The build-up felt a bit slow, but cool that we both worked around protecting the core — just in different ways.
Oh what that's awesome! Thanks for playing :D
Really addicting
Played the game after watching the video, good stuff! Pretty simple concept with a lot of polish, I think the leveling system adds a lot
Thanks man. Glad you liked it!
I really like the loop mechanic! Its fun to try to remember where enemies were, and what to look out for on the next loop. Also because I looped every time, the score multiplier was insane, and when I got to the boss, he died in 1 shot, so I thought it was maybe just an introduction to a harder enemy, but then I looped it for free XP, and after the loop I just won hahaha. The game feels super polished and I dont really have any critique. Well done!
Thanks so much! Yeah the xp multipliuer gets insane if you keep looping hahaha
I didn't get much time to test the game so only after the jam I got to the boss while I was super powerful lol
Thanks for playing!
A very fun take on the theme! I feel like the gameplay feels kinda slow-paced at first. There's a lot of juice though, I especially like the upgrade unlocking animation. The whole upgrade tree is very satisfying and the loop mechanic is well designed. Amazing entry!
Thanks! Yeah the game is definitely slow at first, but that's by design. Because of the skilltree, things start to get faster and more complicated. I considered making a "gamejam-mode" where you would already have a bunch of skillpoints to spend to speed things up but I didnt have enough time to do so haha
Super fun and polished, great visuals! The only bug I found was that you couldn’t get the upgrades on the right side of the tree (like others said). But great job!
Thanks! And yeah not sure what causes this on web builds. Sorry about that!
Really fun! Super polished :D
had lots of fun playing! just a couple of weird bugs though. when i try to get the upgrades on the right side the sprites stay gray and theres no text telling me what the upgrade does. also, one end of the big blue balloon shoots its own bullets almost immediately, so only one side is actually a threat. but other than that, the gameplay loop is really addictive
Thanks for playing! I'm sorry about the bugs. I have had happen to me as well with the upgrades, but only in the browser. Not sure why...
And I hadn't realized about the blue enemies! Glad you liked it overall :)
Wow, highest quality game I played on this jam so far! I like the idea of the core's size being the health indicator, so the game ease up a bit after each hit; altough it might make the game a bit too easy, when you down to 1 health the core is basically unhittably small
Wow that's very kind, thank you! I was considering turning the core's health into a UI element, but I definitely preferred this. It becoming so tiny is definitely making it easier to some degree. Maybe it should have a minimum size so it's still hittable
Really polished and neat aesthetic, upgrades kept rounds feeling fresh, and give good variety.
Thank you! I'm glad that you liked it!
This is a very polished game! The gameplay does sometimes feel quite slow. I think it would be more interesting with one more mechanic, idk, maybe shoot faster when not moving? Also mouse-controlled movement would fix the problem of directions reversed when upside-down. Got the same issue in my game as well!
Hey! Thanks for playing😁
I like the idea of shooting faster when not moving. But it's good to note that you're supposed to feel slow/less powerful, as all those things get "solved" with the skilltree. There's even a skill for mouse movement!
Shockingly addictive, I played non-stop. I wrote in my notes that the level of juice and visual feedback here is excellent and I stand by that. I think you took shockingly simple visuals and made them appealing, and engaging. There is a lot of personality here and I really like it. I also like the idea of replaying levels with score modifiers. Very cool.
As far as feedback goes, when I died during the LOOP mode the text on the button said "Retreat" but when I clicked it the level just replayed. Wasn't a big deal, but figured it was worth mentioning.
You made a really excellent game.
Thank you for playing! I'm glad you liked it. Too bad about the retreat button not working as intended. Thanks for letting me know!
Nice game! I spent some time playing it, it is addictive!
Thank you!
This game is awesome! The visual style is very nice, and the gameplay fits very well with the theme. It would be awesome if you could check my game out. This is my first game jam.
Very cool and stylish game!
