This is great. Very imaginative creatures, excellent names, faction interactions, plus a ton of new monsters. Love the map. I was left wondering who the Chrome Messiah is (maybe the creature in #20?) but maybe that was intentional, or left for a sequel?

Yeah, I guess any explicit statement ended up being bent, folded, spindled, and mutilated in the course of editing and fitting to one page.  I think it's still pretty well implied in the text on the back page. Maybe it being a little unclear is a happy accident there?

I definitely missed something by not knowing the system's specifics. I found the font a little difficult to read, but that's okay. And I definitely loved the map—beautiful art and colors.

Developer

I tried to make it fairly broadly accessible, but there are a couple references to things in GOZR; presumably anyone working from anything as thin as a one-page adventure will improvise or swap in something more familiar to them if needed.
This is one of the first color maps I've done, so I appreciate that you loved it. Thanks!

I'll second the pleasant surprise at having a GOZR compatible submission.  Much respect for the homespun cartography and font choice.  Channel Appendix N author Sterling E. Lanier much?

Developer

I've read at least Hiero's Journey, but not recently (but maybe it was in back of mind somewhere?)  There are definitely some film references in here as well.
Making a font that looked something like James West's writing was part of what I needed for this.  I did too much editing and re-writing, and it would never have happened if I was doing it all handwritten each time.

Good, old-fashioned gonzo wasteland shenanigans. I wish I had more time to look into my copy of GOZR. The faction interactivity and creatures are definitely the strongest part of this submission. I have a soft spot for science fantasy and this scratches a lot of itches. Nice work.

Appreciate the feedback!

I love that you're all in on the GOZR ethos here and that this is designed to be printed, folded up and played, rather than just as an artifact designed to be looked at on a screen.

I'm enough of an old school grognard that my design orientation is always geared towards a print copy as the definitive version.  It probably doesn't help me in the Jam, but that's how I organized my early drafts and part of my process.  And I think it well suits for something like GOZR.

Jamie West's GOZR is brilliant, game and art lovingly entwined. In fact all of his stuff is well worth seeking out. I think GOZR has gone largely unnoticed, so kudos for writing a module for the system. I greatly encourage other Appendix N-ers to check out the website this game hails from as there's a text only rule book, so you can play this module as intended.   https://www.jvwest.art/gozr or it's here in colour for $5 on itch https://jvwest.itch.io/gozr

Terrific to see a GOZR scenario in the wild, its a bit like spotting a unicorn! The GOZR version has weird colours, with three eyes and five legs.

I think you've nailed the theme and the system, the map is great, the font looks spot on (I saw you made that), the GOOZ  and creatures are sick.

It'll be a doddle to convert this to other systems, especially those of a scifi/ sci-fantasy leaning.

Take a handful of Clinks and Tossers for your efforts, sir!

Appreciate the kind words! Wasn't sure, once I started in this direction for the Jam whether it would land with anyone.  So I'm glad to see it received like this.  (JV West said it was the first time he'd seen the "Plays ugly with GOZR" mark in the wild, so it's a rarity.)

Awesome map.  I feel like any system would be able to use it.  Cool tables. Don't know much about Gozr but it seems interesting.

Developer(+1)

My intent is definitely that it could be used with anything; it just draws its initial inspiration and a couple of details from GOZR.
