Poor Squick! This was a good read and really made me empathize with the protagonist. The Borthers were a little one note, but you only had one page to work with, so playing into the archtype was probably your best move. Nicely done.

The characters are great in this story and you managed to tug at the heart strings in the final lines. Really well done. And I liked your approach to the theme, I thought it was cleverly done--clear without being explicit.

Thank you so much! I was quite worried about striking a balance with the theme. And truth be told I can already see ways to improve and reinforce the theme even more - that land mine should have had a proximity fuse - but I suppose that is the fun of a jam like this.

Really fun escape sequence! I like that you maintained ambiguity whether he would survive or not. I choose to believe that the rats have the medical knowhow to treat his injuries :')I saw your comment on my story, and did chuckle at how structurally similar our stories are! I guess we just fund underdogs rallying against those big dumb Brothers compelling, haha. They're easy to dislike.

Great characters and creative concept.

Really good!

Might be my favorite take yet on the "Ratman stowaway" concept! You do a great job selling Squick's attachment to Bean and creating genuine emotional moments, which is always a tricky thing to manage in a piece of this length.

I echo these other comments, I feel sad now. A really original read and story, I'm loving all the entries that tell a story about human needs, not just ENDLESS WAR. Thumbs up!

Also, love the story of a rat escaping a dangerous situation and using trickery to overcome a superior opponent and hey wait a minute, that's what my story is about :D

Sad face. Don't you make me feel bad for rats. That was a great read.
