This is cool, the visuals are great and the typing is smooth. I like the enemies' walking animation, and I like how the mech pilot's head is sticking out, haven't seen that so often this jam, and he looks tough.

Intense Mech typing action !

For a typing game this was tons of fun, i really like the music and spritework, and the use of lighting was also top notch.

I can’t touchtype, so the game was particularilly intense for me but i had a blast, i didn’t expect some of these long ass words :p

The only slight confusion i had was to start the game, i tried clicking and every usual select button in games, but then it hit me, you gotta type “Ready” to start, i think you should add a little prompt to tell players that otherwise there are gonna be some people stuck at the start screen.

Other than that, really fun and solid, great job :)

Yeah probably should add a note about starting it all with typing haha. Thanks for playing.

This is a lot of fun and has a lot of potential both as a normal game and as an educational tool for people learning to type. Great job!

thanks! Best I've seen from a player is 200+

I have no idea why but I can't get this game to go in any form I have tried it in. I tried both the web and Windows builds, the only input that seems to register is the 0 key to make the game fullscreen.

Developer

By any chance you are using a custom keyboard? I use a QWERTY. I wonder if the framework is not able to detect your key strokes because of a different mapping. If you have more details I can look into it

Host

Just standard old QWERTY too, just using a Logitech keyboard with the British layout.

Developer

I tried a bunch of things, set it to british and british pc layouts. But all of them did fine. I'm using a framework called Dragonruby and reached out in the discord to see if this is a bug.

If you want to try another of my typing games to rule out the hardware. Curious if the input will have issues too. Made this in Godot few years ago https://iamernesto.itch.io/below-the-surface

Cool idea to practice your typing skills in a fun setting. And it was super fun. The Carpenter got me. Zucchini was also tough. image.png

Congratulations on the wholesome game.

Pretty solid entry, very unique. But I was kinda expecting mech related words, since my wave started with "machine" but followed up with "yogurt" and I was like "what?" XD

Fun and simple gameplay. Thank you!

haha the rng gods. I did try to make it robot/uprising related, but then the word bank was much smaller...

thanks!

I like the fact that there is no menu here, you just type Ready or Retry, cool concept.

thanks for playing. Thought it would be nice to "always be in the game".  Ended up liking it
