  • Great little game with alot of potential. I found that most of the platforming bits worked really well. The mechanics were intuitive and fun to mess around with. I liked how you leaned into the theme with only having one tool and one minute to solve the problem, but still allowing you to scout out a solution before giving it a proper run. I only really had issue with the lack of music or background noise to bring a sense of urgency. Adding some background sounds adds a lot to environments and also makes the game world feel alive. The GDD was very well laid out only really missing a few graphics for certain individual mechanics. Keep making cool stuff.

Yes

Yes

Summarize your game!
Xylon is a puzzle platformer that takes place on the last Ark of humanity. After a massive extinction level event, the last governments of the world came together to build Xylon. This Ark was planned to hold the last of humanity within Cryostasis pods while on its journey to Alpha Centauri while 4 artificially intelligent Officers controlled the ship, consisting of the Administrative Officer, Engineering Officer, Life Support Officer, and Reactor Control Officer.

However, on its journey, the ship was hit by a huge super nova blast, causing all ship systems to malfunction, including all 4 of the Officers and all but 1 repair droid. The Administrative Officer in its final sets of instructions woke up this single repair droid to save humanity.

You play has this repair droid, acting as the only one to possibly save humanity. You wake up in the droid bays and need to make your way around to each of the sectors to repair the Officer controlling it. Once all 3 worker sector Officers (Engineering, Life Support, and Reactor) are repaired, the door to the Administrative Sector is opened, allowing the player to enter into the sector and repair the final Officer.

Be careful however, each sector has its own theming with its own mechanic attached to it. And the final sector, administration, is a combination of all 3 worker sector's mechanics. However, you don't have direct access to these features as before. Instead, you need to send the command to the sectors from terminals to activate these features for a set amount of time.

Make note that the officers have security protocols, and when interacted with will start a decontamination protocol which will activate 1 minute after the terminal is interacted with.

Controls consist of
WASD and arrow keys to move
W, Up arrow, Space and C to jump
X and Shift to dash (Reactor only)
Z, Enter, and E to interact
G and X to invert gravity (Life Support only)
R to Restart

Please explain how your game fits the theme.
The game fits the theme as you are the ONLY ONE that can save humanity. You are the only droid now that can repair the officers and ensure the safety of the living passengers. If you are to fail, humanity will have no chance of survival in their cryostasis pods and will surely die.

In addition to the theming of you being the only one that can save humanity, all 4 officer battles also only give you 1 minute to beat the officer before the decontamination protocols kick in.

In addition to these features, it was decided to remove the only one life from our initial plans, as it was decided that it would be too difficult to beat the game with it. However, it is planned to be featured as an "IMPOSSIBLE Difficulty" if further development is expected to occur for the game.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Be careful while running the sectors. Remember, you are the ONLY ONE that can save humanity. If you fail, humanity is doomed.

the art for this game needs to be commented on because it is gorgeous. it feels very natural to play too. there's a couple glitches i ran into, like if you pick options instead of yes at the start and return, it never gave a message to state that it 'returned' to the main menu, and typing 'yes' after that didn't load the game. typing 'no' doesn't seem to allow for easily restarting the game (i had to refresh, wasn't sure what else to do :P).

the game is legitimately fun to play. kudos!
