Nice prototype! This idea of a platformer where you can stack your own platforms is a core mechanic that could be used in many interesting ways! I noticed that you can sort of "stick" to the plants and wall-jump off of them, which is also a neat feature that gives the gameplay more depth!

Sticking to the plants was just a lucky coincidence coming out from the collision model, but thanks anyway!

Simple, but very well balanced. I think the plants spawning where the player is feels a bit weird? Anyways, really great job!

Developer

Thanks, yes it is a simple game prototype just trying out some idea. I agree spawning a plant where the player stands is strange, so I could add a small jump.

Charming little platformer you got here!

At first I thought I was stuck, because the jump height was set too low... but it seems like you thought about that situation and generously gave the player 3 water to start! That helped me learn the mechanic and that felt great. Nicely done!

The win/lose messages are funny. Never have I seen a game say "groovy" at the end, and ... I love it hahaha

I think there's lots you could do to expand on this for sure! Aside from having more levels requiring the user plan more carefully, maybe there could be enemies that eat plants when they encounter them! Or keys and doors, pushable plants, etc. Stuff like that could turn this from a jam game into a full game! :D

Developer

Thanks for all the great ideas!

Yeah, there are a lot of things to add. Enemies for sure could make the game more fun. Maybe cows that eat the plants :)

Thank you for playing! Minecraft definitely is a source of inspiration.
