This was fun and felt good to play. Favorite part was the pilot's little quips. Also, the difficulty progression was nice. Also also the graphics were nice.

Nice work overall. I onboarded with this game very easily. In keeping with the design version of the 80/20 rule, I'd recommend keeping 80% of the game "in trope", and then changing 20% of the game to be a twist or novelty. We talked a bit on Sunday about where you'd go if you had more time - powerups, more enemies, asteroids - all good ideas. Perhaps other ideas might have been different ships that the player can select between (or get as wingmen) who bring in unique powers associated with which segments of their display is lit up (maybe a '1' just fires a steady stream of machine gun bullets while a '7' shoots side-firing missiles).
I love the design of the ship and how you have a few different way to shoot the enemies. I think that replenishing the player's HP and shield every level is a little too forgiving. I would have liked to see pickups or some other rewards for shoot the enemies. I think this is a good first step and would like to see it expaned.
