NOBODY DOGNAPS D.A.D!
Super fun game! had fun trying to do as fast a time as i could after my first playthrough! the animation in the beginning was cool!
Super addicting! Dying so easily made me really approach this from more of a stealth shooter perspective. I felt especially called out when I fell off the map and saw what was written on the underside of the level XD.
Cool game, love the gunplay and how it feel to shoot it! The level is simple but effective and fun, never felt I got lost and the items are well hidden, encouraging me to explore. The addition of the game intro/fail/ending animation adds to the character to this game, its awesome!
My few nit picks are 1. the goons seems to shoot quite rapidly making it hard to dodge while waiting for the guns to recharge. 2. Would love to see this game in full screen (played the web version and when I tried full screen it still the same but with large black corners)
That said, amazing work!
Liked the gunplay. The enemies felt like they deal too much damage or shoot too quickly, as I can't strafe to dodge them once they get close enough, so having more than 1 enemy near me would mean game over. The environment design was lovely and having multiple weapon types was fun to play with.
Yes, the little Dragoons are dangerously accurate, and they will detect you (even from behind!) over long distances. In my experience if they shoot first (either because they ambushed me or I miss), I’m dead.
I’m happy you enjoyed the environment design! We used the simplest models we could find and supplemented it with 2D art and arrangement.
very cool, I think my only gripe is a complete lack of checkpoints in a game where it's so easy to die with little to no warning
and before people say "skill issue" or w/e, my best run died because a really long lag spike force-held my movement keys which sent me straight off the tower and into the void. losing a 6 minute run that way was kind of a bummer and I didn't bother retrying after that. might just be a web issue though tbf
everything else was really nice though! the movement and controls are really polished for a jam game, and I loved the presentation all around. solid!
Thank you! I’m glad to hear that, we spent a lot of time tying the presentation of everything together.
I’m sorry to hear about that lag spike. I found the same thing happens to me if I’m pressing down on WASD and the game window loses focus.
We designed the game to encourage careful stealthiness for a new player, but beatable in less than a minute for someone who is replaying. If you’d ever like to retry, try going into fullscreen mode to avoid the issue you described. I’m still looking into ways to mitigate that and will update the game once I have a fix ready.
Thank you again for playing!
Super fun, the dialogue scrolls a bit too fast though. This game seems like it would be a really cool speed running game.
Thank you! Yes, I was trying to go for a quick ‘pick up and put down’ kind of game.
I forgot to leave a comment here it seems. (My bad) This game is so far one of the most fun I have played, its just really nice to speedrun it. The enemies are ruthless, and some of the guns are just about useless (the machinegun). But it was very engaging to explore the small environment after being gripped by the initial story. (Really well done art). I managed to beat the best time, and am super proud of that.
I will probably circle back to this game after a time because it is just simple fun! Well done!
Really cool game but very hard !
The full screen didn't work properly for me and made it a bit hard to progress through the game. (that and the fact that I 100% suck at FPS games...)
But the part that i was able to see was very fun and engaging.
The music and sfx fit well with the game.
Good job !
Thank you! I’m still looking into full screen issues. I’m glad you enjoyed the audio design; our excellent sound designer spent a lot of time tweaking the effects.
Fun and simple. Was hard to play since I'm not used to playing arrows and it doesn't accept ZQSD movement.
It doesn't translate very well into full screen so I think you should look into that (though I don't know if it's an issue on my side).
I don't really see the theme in the game itself but it's supposed to be ricocheting bullets and I'm not good enough at shooters to get another weapon.
The art is very good, the music fits the theme and the sounds effects are nice. I like that the crosshair retracts when you point towards an enemy and shows whether or not you'll hit it, it's very useful !
Thank you! Yeah, by default the game assumes a QWERTY keyboard or a controller.
We’re aware of the strange behavior where full screen makes the game center in a strange way. I’m looking into what I can do to change it.
The ‘Chain Reaction’ theme was meant to be encapsulated in the story (server maintenance -> D.A.D. walk -> cowboy shootout) as well as the ricochet mechanic, though only the starting revolver has ricocheting bullets.
I’m glad you enjoyed the art–our artist worked hard on it. Thanks for playing!
Really good game! Was very fun and is very replayable! For some reason the cutscenes seemed to not show I think.
Thanks for playing! I’m glad you had fun. We fixed the issue with the cutscenes–some strange permissions issue.
Solid game. I had slight drift in the aiming reticle to the right, but i don't know if that is an issue with the web player or not(Firefox).
-Enemies do a little too much damage and are hidden behind corners sometimes so you either have to carefully kill each enemy and hope you don't die in the process or full sprint to the end/area you can hide in to clean up enemies that are running after you.
-Ricochet seems to not work sometimes, I would shoot one of the first 2 enemies you see and a couple times the bullet didn't hit the other enemy next to him.
-Reload of the guns takes a tad too long.
Thank you for playing! I’m still investigating that drift issue and it seems to be related to Firefox. I’ll update the build once I address that. -> Yes, the little Dragoons are ruthless. I was going for ‘arcade-style’ gameplay–quick to victory, quick to death. -> I’ve noticed that too. I’ll see what I can do to make it more consistent. -> Yes, I hoped the slow reloads encouraged careful gameplay in a setting that rushes you to the end goal.
