A bit passive for a player, but still very fun. I played it for a long time.

Holy cow. Talk about a game that's commercially viable.

Just insane levels of fully realized ambition and polish put into this one. It's difficult to believe something like this can be achieved in nine days, but here we have it.

I love the art style, and the autopilot combat system is impressive, though wish the creatures were controllable to even a minor extent, and that their HPs were displayed above their heads permanently throughout battle.

My biggest gripe would be with balancing. If you fall slightly behind (like one of your creatures dies off-the-bat), you spend the whole rest of the game trying to catch up to the ever-increasing difficulty, because all the limited gold you receive is spent reviving dead creatures instead of buying items / snacks to level up your fighters. On my second playthrough, I was able to stay slightly ahead, but after a couple of my creatures died in the final battle of the minor league, I was eliminated rather quickly by the powerful enemies of the mid-league.

But obviously when the scope is this wide, there's bound to be overlooked areas of refinement, and I'd say this is a big success regardless. Congratulations on grubkins! What a portfolio-shiner!

Really nice art!

Hands down a favorite from the jam; very nice! There's so much variety that was put into the critters -they're beyond adorable. Lots of replay value and easily a steam game with more content (stages/worlds/fights). Impressively done; good job team (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

Soooooo cute! Really impressed with the quality of the critters + scenery, they look great! From a controls perspective equipping and placing critters can be a little annoying when they're all running over each other lol. I ended up losing in the major league immediately after finding my first rare egg :(

Really great game! There's an incredible amount of polish both in terms of presentation and gameplay. I especially enjoy being able to position the grubkins at the start of each battle - it adds just enough strategy while still staying true to the sprit of an autobattler. Took about 3 tries but I managed to beat the game with a team of 6 and had lots of fun along the way!

Excellent work!

THe moment I realized that I can position them changed the game XD, before that it was hard.
I should be more attentive to text to notice such things
I have noticed also that you loose your unequipped items after battle.  Other than that amazing level of development! Polished, fun - everything is there.

They're so cute (: ... Game's really polished, enjoyed playing. It has depth as well, not much to complain about.

I loved this. The gameplay is really fun, and I was really cheering for my critters at the end. Also, super nice that you had a small graveyard where you could resurrect fallen critters. Congrats on the submission!

super cute looking game and the gameplay is great! this feels like something id pay money for, its very impressive it was made in a week

This game is amazing! The art is awesome. I really love the way you grayed out the arena bg so as not to distract but still had "stuff" in it. I died during the second to last battle of the major league, so I'll defitinely need to play some more. Plus, I still have a ton of grubkins to collect. Hands down my favorite game of the jam so far!

Incredible! I loved everything about this. From the cute critters to the fun gameplay, everything is extremely polished. I won on my first try, but perhaps I got lucky and received a strong character from my first egg (a Gourd Mallow).

If I had to complain about one thing, it was a little hard to position my grubkins at the start of fights when I had more than a few. Because they can't be dragged very high, trying to position one usually knocked another out of the way.

I might suggest making it a little cheaper to revive low-level grubkins. It's more expensive to revive them than it is to buy a new one.

I did run into a few problems:

  • If you purchase an egg, item, or snack, but fight before you hatch or use it, it will be gone whenever you return to the home room.
  • Leveling up a grubkin with a snack sometimes doesn't display its increased stats until going to the battle scene.
  • It's not uncommon for a grubkin to target an enemy that it isn't close to, causing it to never attack.
  • Dubt seems to have a hard time attacking anything.
  • I'm unsure if it's intentional, but some rare grubkins have a lower attack damage than their more common variants.

Other than that, I really enjoyed this. Fantastic work!

Really fun, cool concept, got a Pokemon vibe. All the characters are really cute, the upgrade mechanics are interesting. Really well polished, impressive that it was all done in one week. The little details like the quotes and bios are great too. Wugul forever!!!!

The visuals on this are top notch and the game loop is really solid. I struggled after a few battles but that's the nature of RNG sometimes. I really love that there's a dedicated room to honour the fallen critters. Nice one!

I love these cute little Grubkins so much I am literally going to die (also you've definitely mastered the addictive fight revive and get items loop) shoutout to my favourite Sizzle who once ate an entire pizza even though I think I definitely have him beat in amount of pizzas consumed lifetime

Developer

I love them too!! Yeah I think I got Sizzle beat on total pizza consumed too lol Thank you for playing!
