    • Music : Fine
    • SFX : Seriously needs audio balancing, especially on the narration, it's harsh.
  • GUI : Fine
  • Gameplay : Weird , fun take on a puzzle platformer
  • Notes :
    • The robot is nice
    • The controls are good
    • I like the lighting.
    • We couldn't repair the other robot (give cube), he just stares at us and we can do nothing.
    • Honestly other than the narration being a bit harsh there's not much else I can critique.

I fully went into this expecting a rage game like QWOP or Getting over it but was pleasantly surprised that it's not, and actually controls quite well.

This seems like a fun game.  The art and vibes are very well done and seem very polished.  The controls for the robot are smooth and reactive, though the way they're used takes some getting used to as it's fairly novel (I did feel pretty comfortable with it after a while).  Also, the grabbing of the cubes for power was very fun and satisfying.

I did sometimes feel frustrated with some of the level designs, like when you can just fall off of the front part of the screen if you hold down too long, though I got better at this as time went on.  And as someone else mentioned, the puzzle where you climb up and drop down on the pipe isn't well communicated (for one, the first hold seems to be hidden in darkness, and I only figured the final solution out by accidentally falling off).  And then the part where I got stuck was the room with the seesaw, where I just didn't know where to go after turning off the alarm.

Overall, I think this is in a good spot and has a lot of promise.  The hardest part will be coming up with challenging, yet intuitive puzzles, where the solution isn't just obfuscated, but that the player really needs to think through how to combine all of the mechanics they know into a new solution.  And then do plenty of playtesting to validate things.  That's at least where I am with my game, so I might just be projecting!

Anyway, really cool game, thanks for sharing!

A Fun Challenging Platformer with a unique control system and some interesting puzzles.

The sound felt a little quiet at times though and I felt like some of the puzzles like the security bot bomb and the puzzle I was stuck in, could've been told to the player better though.

But a fun game overall.

P.S. Add a proper quit feature to the downloadable version

Hello! Welcome to Feedback Quest 8! My name's Hythrain, a co-host and one of the streamers for this event! This feedback is being written live as I stream your game! If you're interested in seeing my live reaction, let me know and I can send you a link to the VOD once it's posted to YouTube!

So my normal approach for any game in these events is simple: I get the game, make sure it's not a virus, then play it with as little information on how to play as possible. This way, I can judge how intuitively someone can figure out the game. Only if it's obvious that I need to read more will I do so. I note this so you can get a sense where some of these feedback comes from. In addition, I want to note that feedback and rating are different; don't use this feedback to gauge what I'll rate, nor should you view my rating as entirely indicative of my feedback.

I'm going to open my feedback with a comment I always find myself making for multiple games during Feedback Quest events: if your game is going to be on PC, it needs to have PC controls in mind as well. While having controls for controllers is always nice and can help make a game more enjoyable to play for folks who prefer controllers, not everyone has them. That said, I did find you put in PC controls but they felt rather janky to use (WASD was fine, but PL;' was strange). Perhaps for PC controls, make it where you just always use WASD for an arm and just switch between arms using space bar, while keeping the mouse clicks for grabbing.

Ok, moving on. First, visuals. The playable character, JB, looks rather cute and the style of this game looks well made. Objects that can be interacted with are either colour-coded or visually obvious, which is very nice. It allows the player to focus more on the actual controls than on having to hunt things out, which is 100% the challenge in this game I feel.

Sound wise, it also works. I don't have much I can say in either direction though there were two things I wanted to bring up, both related to when you die: first, the speed of which the voiceover goes "JB? JB?" is very fast compared to the rest of her talking. I would recommend a small pause or even removing the second "JB?" to make it flow better. Second, the death line is often interrupted very quickly. I had several deaths where the voiceover wouldn't even get the second "JB?" out before it cut off and I restarted. Oh, also the "Good job you are water proof" line is weird. Wouldn't it be "Good thing you are water proof" ?

Gameplay wise, I have mixed thoughts. On one hand, the idea is very fun and interesting. On the other hand, some parts had issues; from not being obvious enough (such as the part where you need to grab a climbing point on a pipe that's just further into the background and then drop onto a pipe, which I only got passed because someone else thought of it) to not working properly the first time I execute them (when you need to use the crane to get into a background spot, twice it wouldn't let me onto the appropriate spot despite doing it right) to just feeling like the speed necessary was too tight (the area with the spinning climb points. This was as far as I got in the demo for reasons besides just the speed requirement).

Lastly, I want to dive into the controls. While I perfectly understand the freedom that press and hold gives for grabbing onto stuff, I also found it absolutely infuriating that there was no "press and you won't let go" option. You have an option to turn this on, but it's specifically for double pressing. Double pressing should just be part of the default controls, while there should be an option to turn on a "press once to either hold or let go" option. I also had issues where I would be holding (both with lock on grabs and press and hold) only for the game to just let go. This happened multiple times during the spinning climb points, which played into why I stopped there.

I also want to suggest that you also add support for Switch and PlayStation controllers, with the controls matching what people with those controllers would be used to (particularly with Switch controllers, where Confirm and Cancel are swapped compared to both PlayStation and X-Box controllers). This might seem weird, but going back to my thing about PC controls and controllers... while I do own controllers I can connect to my PC, they're not X-Box controllers. I primarily use a Switch controller if I use one on PC, but that also means I'm used to pressing different buttons for confirm and cancel.

I think that's about it for me. I may give this game another go towards the end of the event if I have time, just because I do want to see what's beyond the spinning climb. I do like the game's concept a lot, so I'm hoping my feedback can give you some stuff to work on.

Hi Hythrain, wow what a lot of great feedback - thank you so much for your time :) Yes please I would love a link to your video when you post it. A lot of great comments and suggestions. Adding keyboard control is something I would love to add, but haven't quite worked out how yet. Thanks for taking the time - and yes there are a few more puzzles after the big climb for you to explore if you get time.

Hello Mayshing here co-host of FBQ and streamer.

We were a bit stuck and didn't get very far. lol sorry. But it looks like a charming good game, I will give it another run later.

Developer(+1)

Hi Mayshing, really sorry you got stuck. To move JB around you need to grab your leg control with a hand first. Then you can move around like in a conventional game. You can use either hand to grab it, but you need to keep holding the leg control to move.

This is great feedback though - I wonder how many other people have got stuck like this, I certainly need to add some helpers to explain the controls when this happens. I would love it, if you would give it another go if you have time. Thanks again for the nice comments and feedback.

yeah we will try it again. :D

Incredibly cute puzzle adventure platformer. I enjoy the arm mechanics - they felt smooth and easy to control.
