Good idea and very nice music. Congrats!

Music is so good! Btw I found a bit difficult to move with both the mouse and wasd togheter
Love the atmosphere! good work!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. tonybrattol made the music for our game. What did you find difficult about the movement?

Submitted

Perhaps ‘difficult’ is a strong word, but I found it counterintuitive that if I move the ant with WASD, for example, towards the other side and then position the cursor ‘behind’ the ant with the mouse, the ant turns around, and I don't find that very intuitive, just my 2 cents :)

Developer

Oh, the critters movement isn't rotated by it's rotation so people can move left / right whilst mining easily and i feel like movement being affected by rotation can make it a bit confusing. Thank you for the feedback though

It took me some time to understand what to do at first but after that I enjoyed the mining (It may be my monitor’s fault but I found it hard to differentiate between iron blocks and stone blocks).

The music, omg the music. I really liked it.

Developer

thanks for the feedback. It isn't just you, the stone and iron block do look similar.

Im going to try and remake the iron blocks sprite to make it easier to differentiate from the stone block

The music is soothing. Introduction could be more clear, and the visuals could be more distinct/indicative.  Good work (:

Developer

thank you for the feedback. the visuals were a little bit rushed because we didn't have a 2d artist, I had to try and multitask coding and creating art. I should have time to make better art for the after jam update.

It's a super cute idea, to ride ants and use them to mine! I have a soft spot for games that let you mine resources too. The music was also nice :) Would be nice to have  a compass or something that opinted to "home" or the "hub" for the navigationally-challenged like me. But good work!

Developer(+1)

thank you for the feedback, i have added a label to the ui that will tell you how far you are from the storage. this will be added in the update after the jam ends

This is the type of game you play when you just want to chill out. The music was very relaxing and I like the idea of bug riding. The pathfinding on them could be better as one of my ants ended up getting stuck in the wall (I somehow managed to ride on them and glitch them back out lol). Also, there were many times that the block I was trying to mine wasn't the block the ant was mining. Sometimes breaking blocks behind or around the one I was aiming for. I wish I could pet the bug (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ Good job team (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

Developer

thank you for the feedback. the mining radius was a circle which is what was causing the issue of mining the wrong block, the mining radius has been changed to a line to fix this, I am currently trying to see if I can improve the critters pathfinding.

I also missed a more extensive tutorial at the beginning, but good work overall, loved the music!

The phrase "slow burn" comes to mind! The time it takes to mine a single block, and the fact that you can only carry one block at once, makes it drag a bit, I'm afraid. But I like the idea of befriending and riding a giant ant! Something about this one reminds me of a game I played as a kid called Motherlode...

Thank you for the feedback.

The time it takes to mine a block is based on how big it is (when the mine generates nearby blocks of the same type merge together, their health is added together and you gain multiple blocks from it) . You were meant to be able to carry at least two but I forgot to change a value meaning the carry size is random between 1 and 3 every time you tame a critter.

It is a very complex game, I enjoyed playing it. The only thing I think it is missing is more extensive tutorial
