Nice concept and cool music choices :) I think with a bit more feedback when hitting the notes, it could be really good. Agree with some others, I found juggling the arrow keys and space bar a bit unintuitive, so maybe using the arrow keys for all (or having the controls be configurable) could work better

The music is super cool, I loved it!  Very fun game, but I had a big problem with hitting the 'sun' notes especially, I had them all as a 'miss' and I didn't know why as I tried hitting them at different points but then I realised that I was supposed to use space for them and not an up arrow. I think the up arrow would be more intuitive.

But other than that it was a super fun rhythm game and as I said, the music was great!

Fun concept! I really enjoyed the music and gameplay, but I found the controls to be awkward for me—I'd be curious to see how your game would play differently with revamped controls and more visual or audible feedback to the player when hitting or missing the notes. Thanks for making and sharing your game!

Definitely a fun game, with a lot of potential; but I find the lack of a consistent “center” for the notes hurts how readable the charts are. On top of that, why use space for solar notes when up arrow is right there?? I had a hard time with the controls. The menus are also almost unnavigable due to the minimal art style. ..Despite its flaws, this game is still quite solid.

The idea is fun, but currently it's hard to enjoy the game without understanding the needed timing. More of a "me" thing, but the control scheme is strange and I wish it was adjustable. I'm actually fine with the Space, but I'd prefer the A/S/D+Space for the Hitbox layout.
And the default volume is a bit too loud in my humble opinion.

There's a cool rhythm game here, but no configurable offset makes it nearly unplayable for me. The music is great and the art is serviceable but I have a hard time accessing it.

First rhythm game i have seen on this jam!) Enjoyed the songs and the visuals. As other players mentioned, would be nice to see some additional feedback on hitting the notes. Apart from this, i'm curious are levels handmade or generated from songs.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! We'll look into note hitting feedback as that's the main suggestion from players, the levels were handmade, we have an auxiliar list with the notes based on difficulty, and the game create the notes using that list in a timely manner based on the song's BPM.

Fun rythm game with an interesting control scheme! I found the color limitations made it difficult to navigate the menu at first cus I couldn't tell which was highlighted  -- suggest adding an arrow or a more obvious 'glow' effect to the selected option. The music was cool with a good beat! Great job
Developer

Thank you for playing! noted your suggestion, glad you enjoyed our game, we had fun making it.

Cool idea, I love the art and music too

Developer

Thank you for playing! glad you liked the artistic direction.

Nice take on rhythm games! The music is great and I like the free-spirited drawn artstyle. I do agree with others though that the notes are a bit too difficult even on easy mode. Maybe reducing the note speed & density as well as adding an optional hitsound can make the game even better. But in general this was quite solid.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! It was planned to let players customize both the note speed but didn't make it in time and with the last game update I accidentaly configured the note speed to 8 in a scale from 1  to 10 (that's the speed I often use in rhythm games but I agree it IS fast especially for easy mode). we'll look into remaking the easy difficulty and shifting every map one difficulty above (making a new "insane" difficulty)

the idea for the game is very creative, as well as the artstyle. the music is very catchy and fun as well. however, one thing i don't understand is why not use all four arrow keys for the controls, since that would be the most intuitive way to play the game? i also feel like the notes fly by way too fast without much feedback, though that might just be a skill issue on my part

Developer

Thank you for playing! It was planned to let players customize both the note speed, and key configuration but didn't make it in time, to make things worse with the last update game update the note speed was set to 8 in a scale from 1  to 10 (that's the speed I often use in rhythm games but I agree it IS fast especially for easy mode). the spacebar choise was made mainly with hard mode in mind (polyrhythm being more prominent, so dividing the top and bottom notes between left and right hand seemed to be easier in that difficulty level).

A nice rhythm game, and as expected from the genre, the songs are really good. However, there’s no feedback for pressing correctly or incorrectly, which made hitting the right notes feel unsatisfying, while mistakes often went unnoticed. Because of that, I constantly had to keep one eye on the bottom of the screen to check if I was doing it right, which felt a bit negative.

Also, splitting the controls across four keys was quite challenging for someone like me who isn’t very experienced with rhythm games  though that’s not necessarily a bad thing, since once I got used to it, the gameplay became fun. With some polish and stronger feedback, this could turn into a really solid rhythm game. Congrats!

Developer

Thank you for playing! The pressing feedback is one of the main suggestion made by players, so we'll look into it after the voting period ends, key customization was also planned (he spacebar being used for solar notes was chosen with hard mode in mind) but couldn't make it in time, glad you had fun playing our game, we had fun making it.

The music is great, and the artwork is appealing. Unfortunately, the inputs felt pretty out of sync to the beat for me. “Perfect” was noticeably after the beat. Consider adding a countdown timer, the first song starts really unexpectedly. I also agree with others that it should just use the up arrow! That was really confusing me.

Decent job all around, nice work.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I tried my best to make the maps as accurate as possible, to deal with different player experiences (due to different machine specs/web browsers) we planned to add an offset option to compensate input / sound lag, key customization was also planned (the spacebar being used for solar notes was chosen with hard mode in mind) but both things couldn't make it in time.

I'm not the best at rhythm games, but I had a decent time on a few of the tracks on Normal difficulty. This feels like a really strong start, but it needs a lot of tweaking to various little things, like the lead-up time for the notes, etc. I see that some QoL like offset were planned, which is good to see! The songs themselves were great! I do have one burning question though, why spacebar for the "up" note instead of up arrow?

Developer

Thank you for playing! It was planned to let players customize the note speed, but both note speed and offset custimization didn't make it in time. As for the spacebar choise, it was made mainly with hard mode in mind (polyrhythm being more prominent, so dividing the top and bottom notes between left and right hand seemed to be easier in that difficulty level), key customization was also planned but well... time issues haha.

Really funny!! The only thing is, I’d prefer the same shape for the way they come in and the way they’re received

Developer

Thank you for playing! the shape of the notes were made with the bloom theme in mind, so the top notes are solar waves and the bottom ones water drops, maybe replacing the circles on the roots with a water drop silouette could make things more intuitive, we'll take a look in that regard.

Rhythm games are not my strong, I played on easy and even after many tries I couldn’t bloom in the song Bloom Beats. The only feedback I can give is that it would be great to have stronger feedback on the keys when hitting or missing notes, just having the words at the bottom doesn’t feel enough. Visual feedback on the notes themselves would  make the game feel much better.
I really loved how the sunset was tied to the length of the song, nice touch! All the music and art are amazing, congrats to the team.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for playing! the effects/sounds for note feedback is one of the main suggestions made by players so we'll try to implement more note hit feedback after the voting period ends, and also we'll try to tweak the difficulty (especially in easy mode, maybe we'll add a insane mode, shift everything one difficulty up and then remake the easy difficulty... )

Submitted(+2)

I loved the music and art. The gameplay isfun but as a feedback I think could be more responsive the keys and have a better feedback sounds and effects and we hit. Great Job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! noted your suggestion (both the effects and sounds), it was planned to add an offset option for the player, maybe that could have helped with responsiveness, but didn't make it in time.

Submitted(+2)

very nice rhythm game. I loved the art style. An improvement could be a visual feedback on the node when you press a key. it took a while for me to figure this out. also, its tricky to figure out if the lag is due to the keyboard or the human :-)

Developer

Thank you for playing! noted your suggestion, I tried my best to mitigate lag and trying to make the maps as accurate as posible within the jam's time limit, it was planned to add an offset option for the player, but couldn't make it in time.

Thank you!

I'm a huge fan of rhythm games and this game is a really unique take on the theme. I also liked the background animation of the plants growing as you play a song and the music was sick. I think the controls were a bit confusing at first.. especially since a note coming from the top required pressing space bar, I think it would have been better off as the top arrow key as the other notes require the use of the arrow key. Otherwise I think this is a top contender for the game jam,  keep up the great work!!

Developer

Thank you for playing! the controls were chosen taking hard mode in mind (polyrhythm more prominent, so full arrows/WASD layout makes that specific difficulty too hard), I was planning to add key customization but couldn't make it in time. Glad you enjoyed our game, we had fun making it.
