Very cute! The art looks nice, and the animation at the beginning was very nice. I liked seeing the spaceships flip, right before they started shooting their lasers
Unique game, and pretty fun! The art and music was nice, and having a playable tutorial is a great move. Itch page looks really good too, for what it’s worth. I did find the gameplay a bit one note, though I didn’t make it past stage 5.
I would strongly recommend spending some time to figure out web builds, as it makes the game much more accessible. The level of polish on the Itch page did make me trust the download more, so there’s that.
Great job all in all, fun and unique game.
Thanks for the review! I'm glad you had fun. I'll work on adding some more elements to keep gameplay fresh!
Unfortunately the tool set I'm using doesn't support stable web builds. Wish it did. I understand not wanting to gamble on a random person's executable.
A really fun and casual game that delivers exactly what it promises. I can definitely see this working very well on mobile, especially if the controls are adapted for touch inputs
Thank you :D
pretty fun gameplay loop, with great music.
a bit drawn out if you die late into the game. would be nice to see some progression, upgrades or different types of enemies besides the saucers.
still fun regardless, nice work.
Thanks! Will work on adding those features :)
It runs!
First of all, good job! The game is actually, genuinely fun. I did find the colors to be a bit harsh, but that might be because I’m colorblind especially with red/green lol
I really liked the initial animation, and the way things get introduced, it feels very professional in a way. You guys made a lot with seemingly very little. I love that the graphics are pixel perfect, and the music scaling up with the gameplay is awesome!
I’m sad to say I didn’t manage to beat the game after a couple of tries though. Trying to think of some constructive feedback, I think visual clarity could be improved. e.g. the ships spin before shooting the laser, but they also spin while falling so it’s not immediately clear whether you shot them down, or if they’re gearing up for an attack.
Also, I think for the purpose of a game jam, there’s something to be said about being more lenient with the difficulty, and allowing more hardcore players to simply have a higher, abstract, score or simply allowing for difficulty selection. The lasers being hit-kill, and having to begin from the tutorial every time doesn’t feel nice.
Nonetheless, I would like to end by saying this feels very polished, even if it seems very simple. It’s even more impressive considering this wasn’t made using a game engine. Very nice!
Oh shoot! I always forget to include accessibility options. Of course I managed to choose red/green. I will remember this!
Awesome criticisms. Thank you. I will brainstorm how I can improve the gear up/falling. The first thing I plan to do after the voting period is add a way to skip the tutorial, so I totally get that too. I will have to work on difficulty as well!
Thanks a ton for your feedback and your persistence in getting the game to run!
I did not dodge the horde... but I did have fun! It felt pretty smooth and difficult.![]()
Glad you enjoyed!
Really well-made and polished game! I died twice at the start of the final stage, and since it took me a while to get there, I couldn’t manage to beat it haha. The music was a great fit, and I was impressed by the variety of stages with such simple mechanics, it really made the game more fun. Great job!
Thank you so much!
Hey peeps. Looks like I forgot to bundle .net 8 with my build so some people can not play. Chances are you might already have. If the build is not working, you can find .net 8 x64 here.
Hey! I don’t know if it’s just me, but I tried playing your game and the .exe wouldn’t do anything. The files seemed pretty harmless to me so I’m assuming it’s not a virus or anything >.< An empty icon shows up in the taskbar, then quickly fades away. No console, no errors or anything like that.
Sad to see non-web games getting so little play, but it’s the way game jams go I guess, I’m normally on Linux so it’s not as easy for me as well. Nice to see a raylib user nonetheless!
I didn’t leave a rating yet, so feel free to leave a comment here if y’all have any ideas on what might be happening :)
Oh no! I've tested it on 4 machines and it has worked. You don't have any sort of antivirus besides Windows Defender do you?
I don’t :/ I will try playing it on a different machine later
It sounds silly but try adding .exe to the application file. For some reason my build pipeline did not do this automatically. Didn't notice it till now.
Not sure what you mean by that…
What I did try is running the .exe from the command line, and I get this warning: “You must install or update .NET to run this application.” So I’m guessing that’s the issue u.u
Shoot! Bummer. This is my first time building Raylib-cs. Looks like I missed a step.
Well if you don't mind .net 8 being installed you can get it here but I won't blame you if you skip out!
No worries! Will try downloading it this night
