I Love the Janky, Wanky, Honk Honk Experience from each feedback of the games! Pretty solids mechanic and feedback. Love the combo mechanic too!

I think you pulled off the two color design in this game quite well. It's looks great and I think the color scheme you chose fits well with the idea of a garden.

In terms of feedback, I do think the music and sound effects can be adjusted to fit the theme of the game more. While I do think they are good on their own, I'm not too sure if it fits the aesthetic and setting of the game, but this could be based on my preferences and interpretation of what you were going for.

Overall though, this was fun! I managed to make it all the way to wave 13 before my arm got tired haha.

I initially quite enjoyed the gameplay, having a melee and ranged option like this is pretty fun and trying to accurately hit ranged attacks while being swarmed is quite compelling. Unfortunately, a single design decision undermines this effect. Having the central flower block your ranged shots makes them unviable to use as the gameplay gets faster, since one getting caught on it can just snowball into failure.

The preferred strategy then becomes to just stand in the centre of the screen and use the sword when the enemies get close; something which is significantly less interesting. It's a shame, because the gameplay overall feels good to engage with because of the strong feedbacks. I will say that I didn't vibe with the sound effects, they weren't very fit for purpose and got abrasive quickly.

A well put-together game aside from that though, good work!

Thanks yeah, I've been putting more playing into and realized just recently that once you get through a bunch of waves it gets easy. You've basically beaten the game because now you get to / have to stand in the center as the enemies come more often and faster since it's easier and you no longer have to worry about losing your combo because you have ample time to take out the next enemy.

It wasn't so much a design choice but an oversight. My intention was to open up the garden a little more and be able to shoot through the flowers but there being a circular area around the flowers where you couldn't be in order to avoid this. There is even an alternate inactive control scheme where you always rotate around the center as you defend the flower.

The audio was supposed to be cartoon like but ended up not as amusing as I had hoped.

Thanks again for your terrific feedback and for playing!

This is a very fun game, I love the atmosphere and the sound effects, I think its all put together very well. The slash animation is very cool, the flower sprite also looks very nice and the combo brings this game to another level! In my first round I got about little over 8k score, but at some point I just started paying left mouse XD. Overall a very nice submission, job well done!

If you find the time to play our game too, I would appreciate it!

I finally realized that although I removed post processing in the game scene I didn't disable it in the camera so it stays active anyway. Definitely two colors now ugh. Looks better to me too Oh well. Thanks everyone who has played so far.  If I haven't yet I will be playing through those games all night , since I "work" nights, and any one else who posts.

Cool game! I really liked the combat, it felt crunchy and satisfying, but the sound design definitely started to become a bit annoying at the end (Ooo aaa eee!). The gameplay is fun but it does get repetitive a bit quickly, though overall I think it was a well-put together experience! Great work :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks, glad you had some fun in between the annoying sounds :)  My wife would agree. She got irritated after hearing it 100 or so times. I went for cartoony sound to go along with the Ninja Turtle inspired hero and may have gotten carried away :)

Uh-Ah-Iee :-) Loved that sound effect!

Very eye-catching, the blooming flower and the bloom effects are really overwhelming. I didn't really find the gameplay to be much enjoyable but the presentation was doing very good job in getting me to try the game out.

Really fun and addictive game, very satisfying to attack with the weapon and build up combos. Maybe the numbers get a bit too big, with lots of combos on screen it’s hard to see what’s happening nearby. I also didn’t like not being able to use the secondary attack with the mouse near the flower, it would make the game feel better, and it gets really hard to stay close to the flower in wave 20+.
Good game, fast and fun to play.

Developer

Thanks for playing and the feedback. Very much appreciated. I couldn't agree more about your points. It wasn't by design so the 'disarmed' scenario can be frustrating but glad you still liked the game!

timing the sword swings along with the game juice and sound effects was pretty fun. could just do with there being a bit more to it.

Oh man, I rated your game and never left a comment. My apologies first off.

Second. This game is crazy. Like high adrenaline crazy in the best way possible. Very satisfying. I do wish I was better at the game. a previous commenter got 94 000, I cant even get half that.

very good work.

Developer(+1)

No problem, Thanks for just playing :) the comment is a bonus :) You should see JankSpace previous screenshot :) for a even crazier score!

It got frantic and I couldn't keep the tree alive. Congrats on the game! The sounds are fun.

I got 94,535 points

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from the screenshots, but once I started playing, I really got hooked. It feels like a rhythm-based game, and with the combo system it became quite immersive. The controls are responsive and the gameplay feels solid — with some extra polish it could become even better. Also, the text looked a bit blurry, which might be why I initially judged it from the screenshots.

Developer

Cool to hear. Kind of going for that so nice. Never really got around to updating the screens so glad you played anyway

Fun game! It was very satisfying to build the combo up. Both weapons felt good to use. I was confused at times when my ninja star got eaten by the flower, but figured out what was happening eventually. There’s a great feeling of hectic fun in this game.

I liked the art, but something about it messed with my eyes. There’s definitely more than 2 colors in some parts too unfortunately. And maybe my biggest complaint - the big numbers are cool to see, but they started blocking being able to see the enemies.

Great job overall, this was a lot of fun to play. image.png

Developer

Thanks for the great feedback.  Great Score! I haven't come close. Nice observation on the star. It wasn't intended so I don't know if that is a good thing or not. It can also be extra annoying when you are close to the center and you basically can't throw :( . Should have at least made the area where you can't at least closer even if you were inside the flower.   Yeah when you start putting up points that is when you really notice all the big text all over the screen so great point.

As for the colors, very frustrating and I am going to look at the code and UI again because I  still haven't figured out why? I have no bloom effect but brightness is sneaking in and basically causing more intense version of the pinkish color.

Thanks for playing and for the detailed knocks and props. Super happy you had some hectic fun.

Submitted(+1)

I don’t have any ideas on why that would happen, but I bet people in Discord could help you figure it out.

Submitted(+1)

I liked it, it was so  arcade-like

Its a pity that nowadays games can be ashamed for use of bloom effect.

Submitted(+1)

This is a really fun game! I love the art design for the character (the little ninja dude lol)  and the concept, great job!

Submitted

Yes NINJAs!! It played decent, the art is nice (though with the bloom more than two colors). Choosing the direction of attack by mouse position didn't feel well communicated enough and I wasn't a fan of the scaling flower collider, but overall you did a good job.!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. I just submitted the real final version. no colliders and removed the placeholder art. I am actually stuck trying to figure out why the roses give off a whitish bloom still. Nothing in the code does that?

Submitted(+1)

Oh nice! Your scene might have a default volume with the Bloom post effect on it.
