Game Description
A short 2D platformer where you are a little mushroom trying to find its way and objective in that world.

How does your game tie into the theme?
The game fits in the theme « critters » in my opinion because, you are playing a critter itself and you encounter other critters during you journey.

This was such a cute little platformer. I loved the mushroom critter! I had do some trial and error to figure out the controls, but once I did, I had fun moving through this world. If I wasn't careful, I could get the "E" gravity to spiral into a loop in the sky, but I was also able to use it to my advantage and make 'impossible' jumps. I feel that controller support would have helped the gameplay a lot. I didn't hear any sound on my download, would have loved some SFX and music. Really nice work on this!

Developer

Hey thanks !

There wasn't any SFX sorry (hadnt time to do it and learn godot lol) but thanks, I didn't knew that bug ! But well  played if you used it to  your advantage!

I love the little shroomie! Once I figured out the controls, this was fun. The gravity switching is such a cool element. I'd def play a full version.

I also found a bug: After the area with the "Trust me" sign, there's a long stretch of mostly flat ground. I was spam rolling across it to try and save time and my game crashed.

Developer

Hey, thanks for the review, I’ll check out which part is bugging and try to figure out why. I appreciate it !

I had some collision issues like the other commenters did, kept getting stuck in walls or on the edge of ledges. But this is a really cute game, the art is adorable and the gravity switching is cool. Just needs a bit of extra polish, but don’t we all. Well done!

Developer

I appreciate it thanks !

Even when testing I thought collision were a bit of but you are right, I will pay more attention to it next time! Thanks for the review it is supportive !

I think it’s a nice little game with a few issues.

Pressing the ‘E’ key I was unable to reliably reverse gravity. I didn’t think it did anything to begin with, then accidentally got ‘E’ while jumping to work. I played around with it some more, but could not reliably make it work, so I couldn’t use the feature when needed most of the time.

I think that jumping makes you jump way too high.

I liked that you had ledges to roll under, and the reversing gravity idea is really cool, and I wish I could get it to work when needed.

I also tried going left at the start of the level and was able to jump out of bounds that way.

If you iron out some of the control issues it could be a really cool fun little platformer.

Developer

Hey thanks !

I believe pressing E for you didn’t work because you didn’t jumped before.
It is totally on me though because I didn’t really said it when the game « teach you » how to do it.

And I won’t lie, I absolutely didn’t knew how to make a border so I tried to put a really big wall I thought it would have stopped player from trying but thanks for letting me know !

Also, why do you think you were jumping too high? Did it makes you jumping over obstacles to easily ?

But overall  thanks, it is really encouraging!

If you don't know how to start, there's nothing like the humble platformer

That said, you'll want to pay attention to your collision boxes. They will always cover a little extra edge as a form of error proofing, which means gaps that exactly fit will not fit.

There was a point where I could not continue because I did not have a midair jump when I think I might need one.

Developer

Hello, thanks for the review,

Can you tell me where is the jump problem ? I won’t change it but it might be more of a level design problem than a jump problem.

And you are right for the collision, I’ll pay more attention to it next jam !

There's a point where it seems like you need to jump a long gap with a low ceiling. You can't wall jump or mid jump, so going over it isn't a solution. Without a mid jump, your head bonks on the low ceiling, so you go to the pit below, which appears to be a dead end.

That same dead end has the collision problem I was talking about.

Developer

Thank you a lot for letting me know,

I’ll pay more attention to little edges like those and to mechanics problem for my next game!
