That's a big map man. From the level design, that's amazing.
Visually - and when it comes to the use of assets - 5 stars.

However, the take on the theme isn't that much clear (except for alien symbiosis in the flora of the map) and gameplay mechanics aren't tied much to the theme. It was frustrating when i died a couple times and I was at the start with no checkpoints, there is no life system too. Audio is fine, just needs some polish here and there.

Good job, this submission was a lot of work.

Developer

thank you! Your comments are on point and mainly due to me running out of time (or rather my bad time management XD) thank you so much for playing

Woah! For a 1 month project, this is awesome!
I like the color scheme, it give it a unique alien feel. The art for the player character and crashed ship were well done.
The platforming mechanics are great.
The slug was too easy to kill from the wall. The gun mechanic needs work.
Overall awesome platformer!

Developer

Appreciate it Paul! Youre absolutely right, I kinda of rushed the boss XD XD Hopefully I can get the gun and a few other things improved once voting is over :)

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the kind words, Exactly! the color scheme was to have that alien "feel"! I am glad it translated well :D

Heads up that your asset links are all pointing to your music despite the text being correct and everything is listed with “tiles author”. Great stuff, visuals are wonderful!

Developer

Whhaaattttt I need to fix that ASAP! Let me take a look, thanks dude

Developer

Thanks for point this out, I messed up the links XD fixed now.

At first I really liked the visuals.  I like the colors. but after some time  I noticed how the  colors were  kinda  a strain on the eyes. But maybe that's just me.  Hitting moving enemies  while jumping is a little unintuitive. There were several occasions where I thought my gun  definitely lined up with their sprite and they didn't get hit.  I don't know  how it works, but maybe it's just that you shoot one  "bullet" despite what the soundeffects and  the animation say. And if you don't hit with that one  it doesn't matter when you line up with an enemy during the rest of the animation? Feels like something like that.

Overall this is a really fun game. It has a good mix of difficult precise jumps and just walking through it casually, depending which route you take. But it invites the player to collect all the crystals and shoot all the enemies. if you aim to do that, you're in for a challenge, which I quite like.
I definitely see the potential for when you keep working on that and implement several new features.   (Especially some kind of reward system for collecting crystals.)

Developer

Thank you so much for playing, this is fair feedback! The shooting I definitely need to work on, it is a little unintuitive. And on the colours, we are going to work on that too :) this was my first ever project in godot so was learning along the way :D

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the important feedback, yeah the idea of the colors was to get that alien feel but I see your point, hopefully one day we can upgrade this project and make it better :D, thanks again

Cons:

I would add a background filter to match the color of the blocks.

I use Linux, I don't know if it's a global shortcut, but pressing W + CTRL in the current tab closes it, making the game quite difficult. I also didn't like restarting everything; I could simply go back to the beginning without having to collect coins again.

Some enemies are unrecognizable (but I think this is more due to the graphics). I jumped on a creature and didn't even notice because it blends into the background.

Pros:

The design is well done, and I didn't encounter any notable bugs (apart from the gunshot, whose design isn't visible).

The scenery and collisions were well utilized; I found it quite fun overall. I think it could be further expanded with space mechanics, like slower gravity and the like (because of the space/alien theme).

It has a lot of different elements, and I liked the variety. Honestly, it has a lot of potential, but it needs to make the most of the space style

Appreciate the comments! All fair criticisms. I used this project and this month to try and get to grips with Godot, I'd never used it prior to this jam, so a lot of things are lacking :) definitely some of the enemies could be more prominent too. Thank you for playing!

Developer

thanks for playing, I am responsible for the graphics XD in my defence I rushed them a bit and should have had some playtesting and adjusted accordingly, but for a Jam I think its fine, although a lot of colour/ fx animations are missing, like a subtle glow around enemies etc etc a lot of things that could have helped out for sure, again thanks for playing and for the feedback.

Coool! It has a lot of different platforming elements and is well designed. Nice difficulty also. Really enjoyed this. It was well put together overall.

Developer

wow thank you for the kind words!! Much appreciated

I like the platforming part and different kinds of enemies (even though it's too easy kill the boss at the end).

But I have no idea where is the symbiosis here? Also, shooting through walls seams more like a bug than a feature :)

Developer(+1)

haha yeah I didnt realise about the walls until it was too late XD the idea of symbiosis  at the start of the project was that you would have to integrate with the alien world... but kinda never got time to implement something like that haha. Thank you so much for playing

Black screen, the game won't start ;(.

I'm not voting so as not to penalize you.

Developer

oh it should be OK? Might take a while to load depending on your browser

I think it's my browser. The strange thing is that all the other games work. Maybe Godot and my browser aren't really compatible.
