The mouse and bunny were super cute. It was fun to watch them bouncing around the pen. Great job completing your first GWJ!

Hey! Super lovely game, really fun to watch all the critters run around like crazy while generating money!
Congrats! Looking forward to seeing more stuff from you :)

cookie clicker, but critters instead of cookies :D
Art is adorable. Would love to hear what were your bigger idea on gameplay

Developer

First of all thanks for playing. πŸ™‚

The initial/bigger idea was to tell a small story. Something like, a kid bought a cute little mouse and had the idea to show the mouse for a little admission fee and then starts to buy more and more cuts animals, that brings more people to watch them, until upgrade 5 or so, where the parents step in and tell the kid that it gets out of hands and it's time to get the animals a new home. Which could also could have worked as kind of reset mechanism to multiply the income for the next run.

Obiously it was way too big for the time I had available.

I read the other comments about the upgrade bug, unfortunately. Love the idea tho!

Cute game, shame about the bugs but that’s to be expected in a game jam. The art style and sounds are cohesive and fun. Would be fun to see the idea developed with more critters.

I enjoyed making them glitch when the cage is too small, maybe i'm a bad person.
Anyway good job, next time you will be able to do more !

Developer

πŸ˜„ You are not a bad person, I can totally understand that. I thought about stopping the player to buy new critters when the upgrade is ready, but forgot to add the check. πŸ˜…

I enjoyed it! I like the art, and the music is very fitting.

Good work!

Congrats on your deliverable! I think the art of the game was very cute and the music was quite charming. I see that clicking upgrade doesn't do anything anymore after the first time you upgrade (or it is bugged for me). It would be nice to know more how much each of the critters make you so you can better choose which one to spawn to be most cost effective. Either way good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing it.

It's sadly not a bug. It really has only one upgrade. The initial plan was to have 5 or so and with the upgrade unlock a bigger animal. There was just too much going on, so that not s lot of the initial plan could be done. πŸ˜…

I see, that's the curse of gamejams, too little time to get everything done! Still nice game. Good luck on your next project!
