Overall the concept is great!
I loved that this game is built from scratch using C++!

The game is alright and has some potential though a few bugs (as others have already mentioned) prevent it from being a great game.

Thanks swigof for your ttips, they helped! My game ran on linux after installing glfw3 libs from standard repos.

The game from the technical side deserves to be #1 - huge codebase, programming almost everything with no game engine editors.

When it comes to gameplay - it's not bad, but not great. There are major problems with collisions - I can get stuck easily on the bottom of a platform. I was surprised when I couldn't defend myself from monsters - explained controls would be nice. Use of the theme is fine - advanced life system. Same with audio and visuals. Sadly, I didn't have too much fun with the game because of bugs, but this is a solid prototype on which you could expand upon!

Well done making this from scratch and with such a tight time frame. Collision’s a little clunky, but I too have been there before making collision systems from scratch.

For those still unable to run the game you can grab the missing dll from here

For those on windows, grab the 64-bit Windows binaries zip and just place the glfw3.dll file from one of the lib-* folders into the game folder next to sybionts_beta_4.exe. On Linux you can probably install the required files on your system via your package manager.

Thank you for the feedback and for providing information to others about the missing dll file. :)
I remembered to include it in the sybionts_beta_3.zip, but forgot for the latest version. After the Jam is up, I'll re-upload with the missing dll files included in the zip file.

Yes, I agree collisions are the biggest issue in this game. Something I will work on in the next game jam.

Unfortunately the game is not running on my Windows 11 PC :(

Not even on Linux. I installed Wine to run the Windows version, and it didn't work either. It only worked when I opened it from the terminal

My apologies, I'll try harder next game jam to make it work on Windows.

I have now officially started started working on a game for the jam. :)
I'll update the page when I have made some progress.
