At each restart, a new instance of the music started playing, eventually there was like a dozen of them running. (me being a fan of like Ministry and Einsturzende Neubauten and all, I’m actually quite ok with this). Chrome on Linux.
It's interesting. Is there more points for lines matching somewhat the theme of previous lines or is it judged based on just the current line itself? I was working under the latter assumptions and it was easy enough to boil the lines down: "broken", "makes no sense", "that's aight". :)
For this it is based on the current line and not the previous. I would like to explore the idea more with longer poems (outside of the jam without the pixel limitations) where you could build one line to the next trying to have some consistency in theme. It would be fun to explore that and possibly provide more choice in switching out specific words or directing where the poem might go thematically.
I got a few the queen sort of liked, but didn't manage to win. It was sort of hard to know how to play :)
Interesting concept. I'm not really sure what I'm doing to win, but I thought it was interesting to generate different poems. Nice job!
Ultimately the score comes down to
0 - Pts for a poem that has a bug in it (some error message or unspecified words)
1 - Pt for a poem that doesn't fit a theme
3 - Pts for a poem where the words "match a theme" (animal, nature,...)
But it can be hard to tell if they match or not and sometimes those that don't match can be more intriguing than those that do.
