Interesting take on using timing button control, but for some reason the position for the W,A,S,D button indicators keep changing was this intentional?
P.S please try my game.
Yes it was intentional to create more challenge.
I will definitely try your game
This game is definitely unique, but the controls are a bit too much for me!
Awesome visual style and concept! I agree with Banana Choom. I couldn’t figure out for a long time that the white circle isn’t the best timing. But if you align the keys with the directions, the game becomes too easy. Maybe it’s worth finding a different way to make the QTE more challenging. Or perhaps using other keys, ones that aren’t associated with directions like WASD, would be better.
You’re right — the timing mechanic definitely needs a lot of improvement. Using other keys worth trying too
very polished game
The idea is very cool—I really liked it!
That said, I’d like to share some subjective feedback:
First of all, it would be soooo much more comfortable if the buttons had a stable layout—for example, “W” on top of the circle, “A” and “D” on the sides, and “S” at the bottom. It would still keep the timing mechanic fun, but feel more intuitive.
I struggled with the timings. When the circle reached the inner circle and it felt like a “Perfect” tap, it always showed as a fail for me. I think better timing calibration would make a big difference.
Hah, after writing this I noticed Fatal Exit mentioned almost the same thing—totally agreed!
Overall, the general idea is super fun. I miss the times when games used to have QTEs.
P.S. At some point I got stuck in an endless drift, but honestly, I just enjoyed the music and vibes during that time :D
Thanks so much for the feedback!
I get what you mean about the layout and timing — makes total sense. I went with randomness to keep players on their toes, but I see how it can be too difficult and annoying . Glad you still had fun though (even with the endless drift bug :)
The stylized graphics are quite cool! The feel is of the control gives you the feeling that you might actually be blind xD
That’s what I worked hard to achieve :))
Fun little game. Nice stylized graphics. My only annoyance with the game was IMO the directions for the QTEs should be consistent compared to how they are now. Having a random jumble of WSAD for any direction goes against any semblance of being used to WSAD for movement and so many times I pressed the wrong direction just through instinct. If I were to make suggestions on how to tweak it if you work on it post jam: reduce the duration of the timer, standardize the directions on QTEs and tweak the timing. Game is a really cool unique idea and I am really impressed.
Thanks for playing and for the thoughtful feedback! I actually like the randomness, because without it you’d always just press the direction you wanted. But This way you would go in wrong direction. you have to pay attention to which key is assigned to the direction you want, and hit it at the right time to get money and speed. But I totally get that it’s tough to go against instinct in such a short reaction window.
You’re right about the timing, the better approach would be giving players the option to adjust the timer through difficulty settings.
That's fair, difficulty settings would be great!
The narration is funny (I'm not sure how the blind guy saw his car yellow but anyways) the graphics are peak i love the cartoon style and lastly this game is lowkey unique
In my mind the character actually said he’d use spray to change the color, but I deleted that part and forgot about the logic :)) good catch!
Thanks a lot — I tried to put a different spin on driving, since I knew I couldn’t capture the full Crazy Taxi driving in such a short time.
Good game, I liked the visuals. I liked the timing mechanics, but I think the inputs were a bit laggy. Also, sometimes the car wouldn't turn or stop and would just drift off the map.
Thanks for the feedback. I've worked on fixing the out-of-map bugs, though some may still exist. I hope this affects fewer players
