It's a game with an interesting idea, I never thought that Tetris could be combinedd with Tower Defens

I have gotta say the twist caught me off guard, this game was the most fun in my opinion, but I am a bit confused though,, during the night time what do I do with the red box, I kinda panicked because I did not read the description before playing and couldn't figure out XD
The only tetris (that I know of) which encourages you not to fill in the lines and build the blocks as high as possible, nice twist.
P.S please try my game
Love the game, it's a lot of fun trying to decide between levelling up the towers like normal Tetris or by leaving an empty spot. Graphics look great too. Not sure how to defend against the pink ones that fly right through the towers though...
Xenotris is awesome! Out of all the other games from this jam, I can surely tell Xenotris was made during the period and for this jam! The unique take this game takes is mind-blowing! The highstakes block deleting game now becomes a very highstakes block building game however, if you build too much, you meet your end, this is awesome! But the game picks up difficulty rather fast!
Amazing idea. It's crazy how you combined Tetris with tower defense. Congratulations, it is great!
Great idea! Tetris + tower defense, how did you even thought of it? Replayability is great, and the music is also cool. Good job, I see a potential in this!
Was honestly my first idea this jam as soon as I heard mouse control wasn't allowed: I had planned to try make an RTS game as they are one of my most beloved genres, but tower defense isn't far behind. So tower defense tetris ended up being the thing I made 😆
Thank you so much for playing, and I love that you vibe with the music, I don't think anyone else commented on that and it was one of my biggest creative focuses this jam.
really unique idea, I liked it a bit confusing if having more blocks is better than upgrading but might be a problem with me, one of the best games in this jam for sure
Having a building and defending phase is nice! Gives tetris a totaly new feel makes it more like minecraft!
I'm digging this game! I saw it you post about it a bunch of times in the discord so it was nice to finally play it. I like your take on this theme of Tetris and Tower Defense type of games. Only got to Day 3 but lost once that pink monster came in and bypassed all of my blocks. I'm not sure if that was intention though I can see where I wouldn't be fair.
Overall, with the amount of time we had, great job on the game!
Yes the "bomber" was made to fly over your tower blocks and explode on them on death in a big AOE or hit the base. Part of the issue rn is the game balance is kind of a mess because while implementing a new enemy and the new 2x2 tower upgrade I fixed a major bug in the game that totally changed the balance right before I submitted the final build that went live for the jam. Previously every 1x1 tower that was in existence was 2 towers stacked so I had to eyeball the figures with damage number changes etc and go with it, and seems I got a lot of things wrong in the process.
This is a really unique and fun take on Tetris, I like the tower defense mechanics and to be honest they took me by surprise haha.
I did however end up in this limbo of - do I clear lanes, or build quickly and fairly chaotically
Overall this is a fun game :)
Hey there!
Love how it looks, and I really like the idea behind it.
But I have some mixed feelings about how the Tetris and tower defense mechanics interact. If I’m focusing on Tetris, I don’t end up with enough towers. If I’m placing towers, I’m not really playing Tetris.
Also, there’s no way to recover if I’ve merged too many rows before nightfall. It feels like there should be buffs or bonuses for merging lines, to make this combination shine. Right now, there’s not much incentive to do it.
That said, I really enjoyed the idea overall. Thanks for the game!
As you commented in the main comments too I will leave my reply to you here from there:
The tower level is leveled up by merging lines. It increases their health, damage etc. To scale for the later waves you need a lot of levels or your towers get shredded like paper.
But it is not the most balanced/perfectly tweaked I ended up solving a major bug in the game that wildly swung the balance while I was implementing the 2x2 towers (turned out 2 1x1 towers were spawning on each tile and were doing double the damage they should cause double the attacks), and I didn't have time to tweak the balance much better after.
Great gameplay, great visuals, and probably the most unique Tetris I've ever played. But the game gets incredibly difficult after day 3, so maybe it would be better if those big towers we built were permanent.
