Correlation to theme
I opted to start with some diegetic instruments and create a cheerful sound that could be coming from the street corner. While it starts out with relatively few instruments, the piece grows to accompany the grandeur of the city as the festivals begin. My interpretation of festival was a celebration filled with light, jubilation, and happiness, not necessarily associated with any particular culture or holiday. I think that tambourines, trumpets/trombones/tubas, and piccolo are the staples of a festival theme for me and I used them prominently in this track! Bouncy upbeat rhythms with a fun and catchy melody will have you wanting to visit Galadale for yourself!

The crescendo is excellent.
You've mastered the art of counterpoint with the oboe run during the first part opposite the piccolo doubled by the glockenspiel. It's very, very well composed.
And that descent at 23" (end of the second measure of theme B) does something to me, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I love it. My ear expects something more conventional, but you launch into the second part of theme B in a brilliant and surprising way that I really like.
I'll stop there because I could go on describing everything that works so well.

How do you do it?! How do you always manage to capture a theme so unnaturally well! This sounds PERFECTLY like a carnaval or parade! The trumpets and tuba, tambourine, up-down bass rhythm (what is such a rhythm called?), upbeat nature, and tubular bells for some playfulness, all fit just right. And the drums (Neo Soul + Easy Bay) with that repeating snare drum feels just like a marching band. And the ending being in a call-and-response alternating fashion sounds great. And you capture some creativity by adding the second section at 0:56. I expected you to make a song similar to your awesome 'Tempo Town' from the OST Composing Jam #6, but you made something much more fitting even.
Once again, you absolutely nailed it! Since this jam feels really nostalgic and invites all kinds of people over whom I've not spoken in a while - like GrassTypeFire, A Bored Cube, or Selkione - I name some songs in these comments that I remember from each of them. For you, I have already done that a whole lot :). I can safely say that I have more songs downloaded from you than any other itch-user: 82 and counting, to be exact. As always, your songs are amazing inspiration for how a theme should be executed right, and as such, your songs are so important for my own growth as a musician. Heck, I even used a bit of 'Midnight Rain Shower' from your Melodic Spring as inspiration. I hope you'll keep making music for a long while to come, and you can be sure I will keep listening them :)
Wow! I always really enjoy reading your comments because I know that you put time and care into listening every time. This was a fun challenge because “festival” can mean so many different things. I ran with my first idea and it turned out to be pretty catchy! I used to march in a parade band in high school so I must have had subtle influences from that. :)

This track is awesome and hits the theme so hard! It sounds like a marching band is coming down the street in a parade celebrating the festivities of the day, here in Galadale where we always have something to appreciate and celebrate.
I loved the key change transition in the middle, increasing the intensity of the celebration and heightening up the joyful feeling. I think it's really smart how the beginning of the track has a moment of just percussion and then a simple tuba line, which when looping the track gives space for the transition back to the lower key and introduces that key melodically rather than harmonically, so it won't feel like an anticlimactic stepping back down of the key. It makes it feel fresh and ready to go for another loop.
This is a very insightful analysis! I was not thinking of this in terms of a loop when I made it, but you are right that the transition back to the original key would feel smooth with the percussion break. Thank you for listening and commenting!

Thank you! I took inspiration from symphonic band-type music and it happened to have a lot of marching band themes so that is what this tune turned into. I wasn't specifically thinking of a parade when I made this, but you are so right and now that's what I picture too! Thanks for listening!
