First off, thank you for very clearly explaining what the player is supposed to do. It seems simple, but several other games in this jam did NOT do that and the experience was worse.

I felt like the logs could use more grab points. They were very difficult to pick up and whatever component/collider was used around them forcing me into the air if I got too close was disorienting. Grabbing is something big VR studios can struggle with, so I get it. Just wanted to offer the feedback.

The timed aspect was nice to add a bit of tension, though you were quite generous with the time! Also would like some more ambiant sound other than the fire crackling. Birds, crickets, etc. Scene layout was nice and clean. Overall, this was a fine job! I believe this was your first jam and hope to see you in more down the line.

I think you've scoped your game out well! You have a complete game loop, and that's honestly harder to pull off for a lot of than it seems. Most people over scope and can only submit half a game!

Grabbing logs was difficult until I figured out I could use the Ray Interactor to pick things up. Great for usability! I hate bending down to pick up things.

I appreciated the timer being in the fore front so I was always aware of the time remaining. Any game component that requires constant attention should always be displayed. Maybe move it to the top right of the players view so it doesn't get in the way of my forward vision.

It's a great submission! I really appreciate you joining in the jam, and I hope to see you for the Halloween Jam! Cheers!

Congrats on finishing your first game jam! You were wise to keep the project scope small and simple!

There's a line on the first screen I can't read. Other than that, as others have said, holding the boards is a bit problematic. Also, effects like the fire slowly dying out would be nice. Even sharing a game is a lot of work congrats!! :)

Great job on your first Jam - nicely done!

The environment is great, I had a good wonder around and it was much bigger than I first thought! I did manage to reach and jump off the end of the map though - lol.

The game worked well, but there's a few comments I had that could improve it:

- The grabbing of the log was tricky. Not sure what you're doing there, but it needs reworking. Perhaps turn off hands and log collision in the physics matrix?

- It was cool to collect the logs and achieve the goal, however it would've been great to have more things to do after that. Given the world was big, there could be areas where you do different things

- Like Allen, at the start there's a line of text that is unreadable (white on white). Making the text black may have worked better.

Still, congrats on your first jam - great work!

This is your first game jam game?! Not bad, not bad at all.

For things to improve:

  1. In the main menu scene, there’s a line of text that I couldn’t read due to the white text on the white horizon. Thanks for the large text size and legibility though.
  2. Distance grab was hard to use for some reason, I had to be very precise. Are you line tracing instead of cone tracing?
  3. I would’ve loved if I had to run around camp, maybe even chop down trees, to get the wood. Having everything lined up was too easy.

Nonetheless, great job. Can’t wait to see what’s next for you!

P.S. I hope you can check out my game too!
