This is one of the games I enjoyed the most in this jam. The writing is 10/10, especially the last line (really made me laugh). Awesome work.

MAN THIS GAME BETRAYED ME :(((( 10/10

really enjoyed the plot twist, fun game :D

I escaped the dungeon in like 10 seconds. Maybe i'm the world record holder ;)

The artstyle is really cool! I like it! Good job! :)

Submitted

nice! Sorry I don't have time to write out a nice long review but good maybe slightly too concise game

Submitted

10 / 10 writing.

One slight plot hole though, how did they get the key up there and then lock the knight in?

In all seriousness, despite being short, the game's actually pretty impressive. I thought the models were particularly well made, and would love to play a longer game in this style with this kind of humour.

yeah fair plot hole lol but yeah Unity was killing me so we might switch back to unreal and release a longer version with actual puzzles like we wanted to

Of course there wasn't much to it, but the models were great and you made them yourself. That's a thing. The movement and interaction worked great. And the voice narration was perfectly in synch with the text. Good job and good luck in the jam!

Developer

Thank you! yeah using unity for the first time slowed down our actual game development maybe i shoulda downloaded it a couple days before lol

I would not say that I did not have fun in the 2 minutes it took me to play this,... but it also was very, very short. I think you probably put a lot of effort in the assets and spend a long time with those. And while voice acting is cool and you rarely see it in a game, I think you should next time focus a bit more on the game itself.

This might sound a bit harsh, because I genuinly think you did a great job with those assets. And maybe, with another member on the team who is more involved into the game design, you could make a really good entry. But it is also a bit hard to rate and critique a game in a game jam when there is a lack of game in a game.

Awesome cutscenes! The downside is that it is a bit underwhelming when a game with such cool voiceover has no in game sounds at all :)

I am not sure how i escaped since i found the key in the first few seconds but it didn't work on the gate. Then i tried to open the chest using time on the other tower (although it was like 09:7.5, so not sure  what it meant) - it didn't do anything either. I started jumping around and  after not finding anything tried the gates again standing on a shelf and it worked. Anyways, I had fun and that's all that matters

This was the shortest game I've ever played haha! I was looking around, found the key, and left. Yay biscuits. :)

Quick feedback:

  • The storytelling and the voice over was a very pleasant surprise and it really set the tone of the game, great work there!
  • I wish the game wasn't as short as it is, and would love to have more levels to escape from!

Overall, good work putting this together in one week! Looking forward to seeing any updates on this project in the future, great job!

Haha funny, I wasn’t expecting that. At least I got cookies

I did an involuntary speedrun I think. Like I just went up the wooden planks on the wall and took the key, I think I won in under a minute lol. The art and sfx and cutscenes were among the best I've seen in the game jam and the game was funny in a weird "so bad it's good kind" of way. Great work! The only complaint that I have is that... well the game is one minute long XD. I'm going to go back to try to brute force the chest padlock. Edit: Didn't need to brute force it, figured out what the code was.

I got the reward! Not the one I was expecting, though :(
Anyway, cool game, short and sweet. And this idea can definitely be expanded upon.

Developer

thank you so much! Yeah we wanted to do a whole castle but def scaled back due to time we will probably keep working on it tho

I solved the puzzle, by that I mean I found a key and opened the gate. Then I was able to reach the princess which (spoiler alert) never existed. and was kind of expecting more. I tried unlocking the chest but I don't know what the password is so I thought it would be something like 0905 or 2105 because I thought the clock was a clue.

Anyways, good job on fixing the issue.

Developer(+1)

thank you yeah the time on the clock is actually 9:10 I wanted to add a voice to play when you saw the clock but unfortunately we didn’t have the time and we were learning Unity so we could make a browser game which is also why the “puzzles” were simple

Submitted

Actual voice-acting was a welcomed surprise. Not much gameplay though…

Developer

Thank you and yeah we were learning Unity to make a browser game so it was taking longer than expected to do easy things

Developer

My apologies everybody! First time using Unity and making a browser game so we hit some technical difficulties loading the cutscene but it is all set and working now! Thank you everybody

Submitted(+1)

No worries at all! I actually really like your game because it's a beautiful example of learning something new and having something to show for it. I hope you are proud of yourself :)

Developer

Yeah definitely a challenge so I feel proud now that it works

Submitted

Yep, skybox.  I'll come back and rate it when it's working!

Developer

sorry about that should be good now

Submitted

Not working for me too, I just see the skybox

Developer

sorry about that but it should be all set now
