Excellent voice acting and I love the main character's design, hope to see more!
I did find a bug that you might want to look into, when you have 0$ you still can refill the racks and have no minus in money.
Oh dang. Yeah we'll have to remember that when we pick this up again.
concept is really cool and I love the art! I also didn't realise there were outfits to collect until I read the comments but makes for a good goal!
one small thing that I think could make it more fun (besides adding things to the gameplay) is making the shop more cozy and make it so I could watch the customers get in/out and looking around while standing behind the counter by zooming out or putting things closer together? (idk I love seeing my shop in action in these type of games)
Spooder's art/animation is AWESOME. The opening to this game was great, with the art and voice acting. I got a bit lost once the store gameplay started, and kept waiting for the day to end.
I came to the comments to see if I'd missed anything, and saw the sketchbook mentioned. So I went back and found the sketchbook with its awesome art, and unlocked all the outfits. Just very cool 8-limbed design and animation, I had to have them all!
I will admit, the store gameplay was pretty slow and repetitive, so I let the game run in the background while I played another game, until a huge line of customers had piled up that I could serve all at once. I also felt like I ran into some bugs when restocking, after restocking when I had $0.
The important thing is that I have a cozy oversized 6-armed sweater now.
Yeah we wanted to add one or two things to the gameplay so it wasn't just restocking and buying new outfits, and checking out customers. We ran out of time though sadly T_T
I wanna add more to it at some point though
The oversized 6 armed sweater that I most certainly did not steal from my friend is absolutely the best one XD (I want it IRL so bad)
Loved the character's design and outfits, it took me ages to realise I had to press esc to see her options though!
Yeah I didn't think about needing a tutorial for checking out customers or opening the menu until after we uploaded it/people kept commenting it. I feel silly for not including it in the tutorial now. Lol.
Thank you for the compliment and the comment
Interesting game! Really liked the concept and Spooder's right, she does deserve cute outfits as much as normal-appendage-numbered-people!
The walking area was a bit too big which led it to feel a bit empty, and the gameplay loop wasn't entirely intuitive (especially the selling part).
Props for the voiceover! Spooder's designs and costumes were also quite cute, but I felt the customer's contrast a bit odd. Love that you can push them, unsure if intentional xD
The 2D sprites on 3D world is also a cool idea, but when sideways looked a bit odd.
Had a lot of fun but it could iron out the gameplay a bit more!
The customers were placeholders. I tried to make them but ran out of time amongst everything else. Lol. There's a lot we wanted to do but I think we got just a bit ambitious with this one. Lol. I'm just glad we got out a concept of a game. It's something I wanna put more work in sometime. Add outfits, add the ability to upgrade and decorate the shop. All that.
Love that this was one of the few games submitted to the Jam that had it's own voice acting! Also loved that Spooder had her own outfits she could wear, that you put together with the money you make from sales in the store. Great vibe and Spooder is adorable.
I would have loved customer sprites that were a little bit more in-line with the overall art style, as well as a slightly more challenging selling mini-game (like maybe having to help the customers with their different needs, or catching and helping them at the right time).
Thanks! Yeah I was working on the sprites but ran out of time. The ones we used were placeholders. There's a lot more that we would have liked to add but couldn't do within the time span. Eventually I'd like us to add more to it. I know changing rooms were initially in the plan, but it became a "if we have time" sort of thing. Lol.
I wanna come back to this. Add things like upgrading and decorating the shop. Add even more outfits. Give customers their own sprites. But for what we managed within the 10 days I'm quite proud of this little team. Lol
This game's really cute! The artstyle feels a little mismatched with the chibi customers and you not-chibi player character, but none of it looks bad. The music is nice and the outfits are a great goal to work towards. The voice acting is also very well done. My favorite part of the game, however, is being able to kidnap those cheapskates who refuse to buy my merchandise! >:D
Lol yeah. Kidnapping the customers is a lot of fun. I wanted to make the customers have their own sprites, but ran out of time. It's something I'd like to update in the future. The chibi ones were just free placeholders so we could still test out and actually play the game. lmao
I loved the blend of 2d and 3d, the voice acting is also really cool.
I had fun getting the browsers stuck in the walls so they couldn't leave. I tried pushing someone behind the cash register to be my cashier but they left. It kind of took too long for customers to make purchases.
But it's realistic, no? Lmao. Takes people forever to decide what they want XD
But yeah it feels like it takes forever sometimes. Probably something that'll be adjusted in the future. Agreed that it's fun to just shove people past the border and just trap them forever. They can never leave...MWAHAHAHA
Animating a walk cycle for 8 limbs is very impressive! The voice acting really added a lot to the vibe of the game!!
I accidentally pushed and trapped one of the customers in the back wall of the store
Yeah, its one of the things on the list to fix eventually. For now you can push them into retail jail and trap them!
The love the main character design. Also the music and voice acting are good.
Thank you thank you. Lol. She's a lot of fun to draw.
I love the voice acting and art, its very pretty, just i feel like the objective isnt really that well stated and took some time to figure out, anyway Good Work :>
Yeah when writing out the lines we didn't think about "we should probably mention the sketch book". If we update it we'll try to remember that part. Lol. Thank you for the comment.
