Nice and simple game play loop - you define your risk levels and play for the biscuit reward. I wasn't sure whether there was any sound at all until I hit the first car...then I nearly s**t my pants! Really needs some BG music and other sound effects. Good job as a solo dev though. Good luck with the jam

Really cool game, it made me kind of mad and felt like I was stuck in the traffic. It kind of reminds me of the “Hill Climb Racing”, even though they are completely different, but kind of the art style and the movement of the camera I guess.

Overall, I really enjoyed this game, although I don’t recomend drinking while playing it.

Got stuck for way longer than I though I would. 😆 Couldn't deliver my silly big cookie on Xtra! 😔 I liked the art style a lot. Seeing resemblance of cars that I like was really nice, the Reventon and the Koenigsegg. 😜

Would be nice to have some cool background music and also a nitrous visual effect, because it doesn.t feel like it does anything. Great job though! 🙌

Nice game. The art style is cool. well done.

Ccouldn’t tell if nitrous did anything besides catch you back up to speed? Really nice and fun game loop even if it is optimal to just drive on the grass pretty much the entire time. I really had a hard time getting any sense of speed or progression at first, and even if realistic, braking is not very fun to have to do… ever. So some kind of bonus for that, maybe a zoomed out screen, I could see this being a great little time killer on mobile which it was clearly designed for. Really solid entry, good work!

Quickly became addicted, had to max out all my stats. Great work, loved it!

Great game, I had tons of fun!

I loved the little popups where it said "close call", it really made me even more anxious.

One thing that for me could've perfected the game was music. I mean, you have the car damage and cookie crunch sound effects which was great, but some music would've pumped even more adrenaline into me.

But all in all, a really great game that was a lot of fun!

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed. Yes music is definitely needed

Fun game! The upgrading made it a whole lot better. Although I think you could just go on the grass on the side after upgrading the car a few times

Developer

Thanks for playing, yes the going on the grass can be abused, had planned to add bonuses for completing the levels faster but didn't quite get around to it, if you had any other ideas for punishments/bonuses would be happy to hear :)

Submitted

Not really sure, a simple way could just be to let the car take damage if it drives offroad for to long, but I'm pretty sure there are better options

Developer

Sounds like a good idea, thanks for the input

I had fun playing this game. I love that the car turns instead of just moving sideways - it makes it possible to make some risky plays where you squeeze through some tight spots between cars.

Adding background music and car sounds would certainly elevate the "game feel" a lot.

A small bug/abuse I found: Once you have maxed out speed, you can easily complete any job by putting your car on the grass on the right. It might be a bit slower, but I don't think your are being punished in any way for being slow.

Developer

Glad you had fun, yes there is no punishment for going slow at the moment I had planned on adding bonuses for completing in x amount of time but didn't quite get round to it. If you had any other ideas of punishments/bonuses for going on the grass, I would be more than happy to hear them :)

Submitted

Just some ideas on top of my head:

- Don't allow players to go to the grass (block it off)

- Take small amounts of damage when driving on the grass (the grass is a bumpy area, so it slowly destroys your car)

- You can go on the grass but only stay there for max 10 seconds (otherwise the police stops you, and you have to start the level over)

Thank you very much, I probably should've done the first idea for the jam. I really like the second idea as I thought of adding rocks and I think this would work better than the rocks just blocking the player. And the third would work for another gamemode I have planned. Thanks for your input :)

Really cute game. Reminds me of crazy taxi.

I think it'd be cool to have some background music.

It'd also be nice if the car went faster by default!

Developer

Thanks for playing, yes music would have been great, I'm suprised about the default car speed critiques, roughly what percentage increase do you think would've made it a perfect default speed?

Really nice concept + take on the idea, and I played for a while. I do think it could be improved with some music of some kind, and a tutorial. Also if there were more jobs than 4 but the previous job you did was replaced with a new one? But really nice game!

Developer

Thanks for playing,  I agree music is desperately needed. I'm confused with the only 4 jobs? There is 6 sets of 4 jobs, not all different but they get progressively harder, they are unlocked when you truck reaches a certain number of upgrades. Maybe this would have been good to explain with a tutorial?

Oh, I'm sorry! I'm not exactly the most observant. But yeah, I would recommend a tutorial if you were to continue work on the game.

Great work!

I think I just got a little confused because the harder versions of the jobs were still similar (but obviously that's the point if they're meant to be harder versions) so I didn't notice. Entirely a me problem!

Developer(+1)

No need to apologise :) It's good to know what is unclear, thank you for you input

Submitted

Nice concept, the upgrade system is well thought out. I kind of wanted the car to go faster as a baseline before upgrading, and it could be interesting to have some reward for choosing to drive in the wrong lane.

Developer

Thanks for playing, I guess the truck is a bit too realist, I bet the people who bought the hilux back in 1992 weren't happy with it's 80mph top speed either :) There is techinically some reward as you get double the amount of nitrous but I agree that the risk doesn't match the reward, if you have any ideas of rewards I would be more than happy to hear.

Average Florida driver:
Edit: Idk why the ss isn't showing but I decided to max out the car ._.

Developer

XD. Wow glad you enjoyed :)

Simple and intuitive game and was a nice difficulty level. I enjoyed upgrading my truck. Adding some background music would be good but overall well done! :)

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed. I agree that music would make it a better experience, what genre of music would you expect if you don't mind me asking?

Submitted

I'm not an expert on music but maybe something fast paced / exciting... Probably chiptune music to match the art style would be cool!

Developer

Chiptune! Ah, I didn't relise this was actually a genre, it's perfect. Thank you for the input :)

Hmm, kind of reminded me of Spy Hunter but a real world delivery driver version. Progression is a nice idea, I think it starts off maybe a little bit too slow but then again maybe you could start with a busted old car.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, I'll have a look at Spy Hunter might give me some ideas for a different game mode if I decide to continue development. The truck is modeled of a 1992 toyota hilux, max speed 80mph, so I think the speed is realistic but maybe too realistic. Thanks for you input :)

Submitted

I really enjoyed this concept. Buying the car upgrades is a fun progression style.

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed :)

that's how far i got but i can tell you, this was really fun and enjoyable, balancing car health and cookie health is really hard and rewarding at the same time, as for the bugs i think you might close car spawn when i reach the end because some cars made me lose when i was already at the endline and i didn't even see what was hitting me.

Wow, glad you had fun. Yes I completely agree with your critique had planned to fix this. Thanks for playing and  for you detailed response :)
