How does the game fit the theme?
You have several opportunities to make the game easier or harder. Harder options are more rewarding. Harder difficulties have more biscuits and treasure. Speed mode gives more biscuits, but makes enemies faster. You can choose to not take a power-up and receive biscuits instead. Many ways to risk-it for the biscuit.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Models and animations are from Synty
Music is and SFX are from Ovani Sound.

Very cute. The powerups were a clever idea. Are the levels random? I feel like every time I played I got a different level.

Nicely put together little platformer, well done

Cute game, nice graphics. I like that you can control how high you jump. It is also great that the levels are randomly generated, so each run feels fresh. Taking biscuits instead of a powerup fits well with the theme.

The Hard levels were too difficult for me. In certain circumstances, when you get hit once, you are doomed. Perhaps adding invincibility frames could make sense.

Overall, a well executed game.

Hehehe Poly, good name. Great to work up to hard mode, definitely took a little bit for me to get used to the controls but were super fun when I got the hang of it. Well done!

I couldn’t tell the difference between normal and speed mode? It was a solid idea though I think the controls are a little difficult especially to climb up those balcony jump things. Glad to see all the settings and stuff though, that’s neat! And it is satisfying returning the dog to their person :)

Thanks for playing! I had bigger plans for speed mode, but time limits got in the way. What is does right now is increase enemy movement speed by 20% and increase the biscuit value of everything by +1. Collecting biscuits and bouncing on enemies gives 2 each and the "Risk it" option gives 6 instead of 5.

I had planned to make a variety of these and offer a handful to the player at the start of each level as different ways to incentivize increasing risk for more biscuits.

Thanks for playing. I'm glad you enjoyed the game. I liked Cookie Roulette. The cookie themed items are so cute and the shake looks delicious.

I felt the movement slippery so it's a little bit irritating to control but the game has really interesting elements; good graphics, performance, music and animations.

Also, yes, I see why you consider it to be a risk not grabbing the plushies but the reward you get instead is not "rewarding" becuase you don't really need the biscuits for anyting. So yeah, I risk it but instead esentially I feel that I don't get any reward.

Thanks for playing. I had thought about putting in a shop of some kind, but I did not have time to get around to that. I think if I had more time that is something I would play around with. The slippery feeling is because the acceleration is not instant. I also wanted to put in some mechanics to interact with that such as a challenge mode reducing your acceleration and an item to increase it. Unfortunately those did not make it either, so things just feel off.

Yeah, I don't have problem whit the acceleration thing. In fact, that little detail makes the movement feel more organic but maybe the acceleration is too slow, that's my issue.

About the shop; yes, that's a feature that actually would help with the rewarding felling. I also run out of time before putting some features in my own game hehe.

This was fun! I was kind of upset when i got the plushy near the end of the level and couldnt use it much, other than that i liked it

There was one level where I got both the unicorn and dinosaur plush and started pingponging on the crates like crazy!

Very fun and challenging. Cute animations and graphics, and nice touch with the risk with the toys!

Would you like to try my game also? :D

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I really liked your game too. The animation at the ending was very funny.

The controls felt a bit slippery, but the dog animations were cute! Also, as another comment said, the enemies being dog crates was funny lmao

Developer

Thank you for the feedback. The slipperiness is probably because of non-instant acceleration. I had planned to make more use of it by having a toy to increase your max speed + acceleration and a challenge mode to reduce your acceleration. Time did not permit and now it does feel kind of weird.

Using the crate as an enemy made me laugh, would be interesting to know how the world generator works. Good job

Thank you for your feedback. I made 15 sections. 5 easy, 5 medium, 5 hard. Then when picking a difficult it picks sections from a pool (no repeats) and lays them out end-to-end. Easy difficulty will pick 3 from just the easy sections. Medium will pick 5 from easy and medium sections. Hard will pick 7 from hard and medium sections.

Nice game, great sticking to the theme. I will say though the physics felt a little awkward at times, particularly in regards to the jumps - I feel like the gravity might be a little high? But great job! I enjoyed

Thank you for the feedback. I did struggle to get jumping feeling right. The current setup I think is the best so far, but it definitely could still use more work.
