How does the game fit the theme?
Betting all your money on snails to get out of debt. Buying biscuits to give to a random snail on the track in hopes of altering the odds in your favor.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

Being able to play other games in the phone is the craziest an most unique thing ever. It's literally pure wizardry.
That said, the visuals were pretty nice, I loved the amount of different snail variations. The audio on the other hand, could've been a better imo. I feel like there was kinda a lack of sfx. And some music would've been nice for sure. Though i suppose i could also just play a game and use that as the background music (which is what i actually did lol).
On the gameplay side of things, I loved the different functionalities of the phone, and the fact that there's games on the phone means i could pass time while waiting for the snail race, which is really relatable to real life lol.
Next, imo the initial training fee of 500 is rather high... like i gotta play lots of games, or get quite lucky with the races.
Also, you could just cheat the game by opening a game on the phone and then just leaving it there. Not sure if this can be done, but maybe you could detect interactions (keys pressed, mouse moved, etc) and if there hasn't been anything for quite some time, stop the player from earning money through games until they interact again.
Other than that, pretty cool game overall, and playing my game in there was really cool lol :D
Loved the day-night cycles haha It is an interesting game, I think it’s fun in general, good job!
I am putting this down the line many times, and finally played it! Don't know what to say, good job! It's super hilarious and funny that you could play other games in the jam while you are playing this game. Pure sorcery as it's finest. It makes a lot of sense if you think about how slow moves and waiting for them to complete a race really requires some distraction, and playing jam games fits that perfectly. That makes the game really hard to rate though. Do I remove the experience of playing other games and solely rate on your game? But then that's the point of playing other games, right? (I even completed another game ready to rate + played my game for a while) Going back to Snail Race, I really like the graphics. The different types of snails are super cute and charming. It's super polished with stuff like, Why do you even have email as a tab that does nothing, and fill them to the brim with articles? That's the level of polish I like a lot. It also pains me to say this, but without background music is actually a benefit for once, where other games usually have their background music, you could just hijack their background music and call it a day XD
There isn't much to nitpick. The only one I could think of is that buying snails is kinda worthless after a while, when you can train up your snail instead. The newly bought snail would never be as good as a trained one, so it just kinda wastes money in my opinion.
Anyway as usual, this is some remarkable stuff you did there. Well done!
thanks for the feedback, I agree buying the snails was not much thought besides the hidden speed stats. Though at the end of the game we do track snails collected.
The feature to play other games is interesting! I tried to go inception by playing snail racing and trying to play snail racing again in that version but it didn't let me lol
The gameplay wasn't for me, but I might have missed the intended strategy. If there was more to it besides random chance, sorry!
Awesome game! It's really cool that you can play other games on the phone!
