Impressive what you made in such a short time, I really vibe with the overall atmosphere of your game. I also love the accessibility options - pretty awesome that you were able to include them! I did run into a few issues. At the start when the controls panel pops up, the let’s fly button only has a very small spot where I can actually press it, which might be a browser issue. Sometimes when you open the menu during the game you cant press any buttons except for the main menu. I also had a bit of a hard time with the controls, though trying out the mouse mode helped. It might work better if the camera was locked to always look in the same direction the lander faces on the x and y axis, so that the directions feel less confusing. This game made me kinda curious to look into how real lunar landers work and I was surprised how complicated they actually were and how difficult it used to be (and probably still is) to maneuver them. Overall I really enjoyed your game, really well done!

Thank you so much for the feedback! That is indeed a known bug we plan to do another polish pass once judging is over and that is at the top of the list. We know that the mouse capture bug can make it even more challenging, but we were inspired by the original Lunar Lander game as well as KSP in how the lander controls. It is meant to roughly model actual mechanics of having small control thrusters like an RCS module that help with rotational control but do not auto-cancel the rotation of the craft, and a large powerful main thruster for delta-V maneuvers.

A “stability assist module” was a planned upgrade we did not have time to implement, and will likely add post-judging period.

I need to know: Is Reticulating Splines a nostalgia throwback, or is it a technically accurate description of what's happening while loading?

Developer

100% a nostalgic callback. One of the other entries we have that’s too fast to see in most rigs is “calibrating retro encabulator”.

Developer(+1)

while it is a nostalgia callback, it does happen during map generation, and the longest part is a post-hoc resolution of normals that could, generously, be called reticulation

but i don't think one could refer to our noise-based landscapes as splines

Welp, that was actually pretty hard! But it looked and felt just as cool as I thought it would based on the screenshots and video you shared during the jam. Truly created the experience of piloting a lander in a mysterious and forbidding low-g environment. I can't believe how much you accomplished

Thanks so much!

That was fun. Tried my hardest to go nice and steady else i just spin out of control and felt bad for the spaceship.

Developer

Don’t worry, their program is backed up!

Controls took some getting used to but pretty fun once you get a feel for it! Honestly I feel like this could be a good vehicle traversal mechanic in a horror game, the aesthetic gives me a bit of Lethal Company vibes.

Whoops, I crashed instantly on my first try. After I got the hang of the controls it was very fun to play, besides a few other catastrophic crashes (I noticed sometimes while crashing you get kinda stuck to the floor and have to restart) I managed to get 159 score after that.
The atmosphere was great and overall everything was well made !

Fantastic job! models look great! sounds are great! the accessibility is something else! was amazed how many settings you gave us for a jam game!
the only hiccup i ran into was not being able to use move camera, not sure what was going on there but the game played and felt great! even if i did suck at it >.< haha

Got very stuck on the floor almost every single time, but I suck at this kind of things.

Love the accessibility options, especially the dyslexic font for myself!
I can see the love and care put in, with the generated terrain, with the height lines as a wonderful touch!

Great work to all!

Thank you so much!

This is amazing! It’s polished, the graphics are pretty, the sounds are appropriate, a 3D lunar lander is very cool. I have NEVER been able to do well on any of the Lunar Lander clones that have come out, and adding a third dimension… definitely didn’t help matters! 😂 I played on Linux Laptop with keyboard. One critique I have is to start with a much smaller resolution! I appreciate the amount of effort you put into all the customization of the whole experience, volume, resolutions, controller mappings, very accessible; however, it was gigantic when I first booted it. Luckily I was able to get to and find the resolution options, played at a lower res and full screen was great!

Developer

Appreciate the heck out of the feedback! That bug is on the list of fixes to hit up once judging is over.
