AI most certainly makes this a very... curious experience. I've never head humans make the sounds that some of my co-hosts made during the playthrough.

Artstyle is great, love the environment. Current mechanics work, but death for player characters is a bit bugged.

Very impressive!

Great looking game. Visuals, style, aesthetics are peak.

Controls and stuff are still a bit clunky and I'm not entirely sure of what I can do in this demo since I didn't see a tutorial and a lot of the things to interact with are icons or things to click on without any description of what that's going to do. I kind of just killed an alpaca, cow, and robot while trying to figure out how I might be able to collect some wood to build things. Regardless, it's still an early tech demo so I'm sure this stuff will all mega improve over time. GMI energy; looking forward to seeing future DD entries.

Also some bugs/things I noticed:
-I couldn't move my little guys if I accidentally selected any other objects along with them. Had to reselect them to make sure only they were in my selection square
-The little dudes miss a lot... I was going to complain that the environment can also block their shots, but I guess that's more-so because of them firing inaccurately.

Keep up the good work!

kino

Not my cup of tea, so I don't have any useful feedback :( I just want to say the art is fucking kino.

I've been really looking forward to this demo after seeing the progress posts. The look and feel of the game is already peak.

cows keep using this bed, but a human has never used it

I managed to get it to crash though i'm not sure how.

Sometimes when i build walls they vanish once fully constructed. They cannot be replaced or deconstructed past that point. characters can path through spaces left by this. I also had a character get stuck in a corner and starve, and another pick up logs and get stuck in a field after felling a tree. Possibly trying to path to the same spot.  Only manually ordering them to move solved it.
Also hunting my own characters for their meat appears to not be implemented, the hunter just feigns boxing their friend.

Extremely impressive, it does need improvements on lower hardware, my GPU was trying to die when running this last night. But this is most likely going to be the biggest game from /agdg/ for the next decade or two depending on how the development goes. The biggest thing to fix/improve is the performance and making sure the UI is good without many bugs.

"Castella is a type of Japanese sponge cake and is known for its sweet, moist brioche-style flavour and texture. It is based on cakes introduced to Japan by Portuguese merchants in the 16th century. To suit the tastes of Japanese people, mizuame syrup was added to the sponge cake to make it more moist, and zarame was added to the bottom to give it a coarser texture."

I didn't play the game but I have to know why Castella

incredibly impressive. you are basically creating your own 3D dwarf fortress. when i created a stockpile on the ground and the NPCs started gathering resources automatically i was mindblown.
this game seems extremely performance heavy, my 3060 was screaming in pain. is the framerate unlimited?
hunting seems ineffective? even after the ranged skill was leveled up to 6, i was still missing most of my shots. haven't been able to kill anything yet
game looks gorgeous overall
had a small bug with an alpaca stuck in the ground

-There is the hardware mouse on top of the software mouse for some reason, maybe it's just me.

-Holy chromatic aberration batman. It looks hideous. [later] I can't seem to see it in this extreme again, maybe it has to be specific angles or it was bugging out.

-Wish I could shift to quickly pan. Also, the rotating with middle click is way too sensitive, I do a full rotation after < 10% horz screen travel.

-Building is half baked. You can place beds though wall blueprints and when a construction fails it removes the blueprint.

-I placed a cooking table but they're using it on the opposite side of where the workplace indicator states.

-Wish I could toggle play/pause with spacebar.

-I played for awhile and this happened at some point. The guy in bed is unconscious, the other is trying to hunt a cow but is stuck. An alpaca later slept in the other bed and he switched to kicking the unconscious person in the head repeatedly through the head board. I fixed it by clicking on the wifi/waypoint action. I also fixed the unconsciousness by doing that.

-Being in a desert and all my food and beds being taken by the animals(and building being annoying), I am relinquishing my village.

That's about it I guess. Keep up the good work.

Very cute artstyle. My biggest issue was trying to figure out how to accomplish tasks. I saw a cargo bin and assumed I had to open it to get what was inside, but it turns out it needs to be deconstructed. I was afraid that'd just destroy what was in there. Once I saw there was bread in there, I thought I'd move it closer to where I was trying to build. But I couldn't figure out how to move it. Do the units have inventories? I couldn't figure out how to get the units to act proactively at all either. Blueprints for a building were set up, but they'd just lay around next to it. Also wish there was a way to quickly move between units. Lastly, the camera movement that occurs after you finish moving the camera didn't feel very good. All that being said, I think you have a real gem on your hands and you should definitely keep going.

Camera controls are a bit cringe, how they shake and bounce.

Ran at like 12 fps on my shittop, which is impressive given how much is going on and how pretty it looks.

I'm curious to see how you're going to handle base building in a 3d world. You can't let the player go full minecraft or else they're going to obscure the camera? Maybe just force them to only build 1 tile high?

This is really cool, thanks for sharing it!

Very cool! Been wanting to play this game for a while now. I would suggest adding a clearer view of the queue when assigning multiple actions to a unit. Maybe smaller icons next to the main one of the current action, that way you can more easily keep track of things and cancel actions without having to scroll everywhere. Some sort of map feature would be nice as well to keep track of certain landmarks. I find that the camera clips into mountains very easily. Good game so far. The cows are very cute.

This is one ambitious game, it's looking super promising so far! I liked it very much. It's one of those games you just get lost into. I don't really have much feedback since it's looking good and you know what you are doing. Keep at it!

Tried to make it work on wine linux but got only a black screen, could you build a linux version?

Not really my kind of genre, but the entire interface feels polished enough to be in a full release already.

Since there's a lot of waiting around for the guys to do things, I'd appreciate a setting to not pause while the window is inactive. There's a few other bugs:

  • A tree randomly shrunk right in front of my eyes for no apparent reason.
  • Sometimes, animals or characters will get stuck on things and start vibrating in place without doing anything.

Game looks really promising! The stylized characters are great, the music fits the genre.
Ofc a lot is missing since its a tech demo, but here are my observations:

There performance seems good, but it was noticeably worse when moving the camera while being zoomed in a lot.

A cow started flying.

A colonist hunted an alpaca, which seemed to be a big undertaking. The chad alpaca just went to sleep multiple times after taking 5 bullets and still being shot at. The hunter wasn't very good. His first shots were pretty accurate, but somehow alpacas are harder to hit when sleeping. He shot around 30 times and didn't land one shot.

My dudes were sent to build a house, but my idea to build it next to a mountain was a bad idea, the walls refused to be placed right next to dirt blocks. The stockpile area also couldnt be renamed even though it had this pencil icon next to it.
Hotkeys for managing time is nice, but hitting space bar to pause would be even more important imho. Tooltips are also needed because the icons aren't always self explanatory. The harvesting icon is a bit weird.
And of course there needs to be a double click to select all similar items function. Having to select all burgers/medikits while holding shift is still a bit tedious.
