I found myself finding the right polarity most of the time and guessing the, frequency... which looked something like: me holding E and scrolling up and down furiously to keep the frequency in tact to have a stable dowload speed (at time) while my polarity is set. 

Later down the line i found that you are supposed to have 2 stable siglans (2 green bars) and the whole tutorial seemed very conveluted, and overbearing. I understand this game is supposed to be hard but at times i felt like i was thrown into a work-enviroment where im supposed to figure out how everything works by myself and the tutorial wasnt very helpfull of guiding or showing me the game mechanics. 

It's not too bad imo, It is explained kind of bad in tutorial though. But i don't use the green bars for it, instead there should be a percentage that is shown for both and just try to get that around 90-100 percent. And in the actual game weather will slowly change the direction of polarity unless you buy the upgrade and not calibrating the servers will cause the download speed to drop.

I, unfortunately, did the same for longer than I care to admit. What is happening is that top number is the 'set' frequency. The number you are changing is how fast you change the 'set' frequency. So if you set the frequency to +200 with the knobs, the 'set' frequency will go up by 200 per second (?). If the real target is say 200.01, you will spike to green then fall away, with you going up and down to keep it centered. Instead, you should increase it till it goes to green, then drop your frequency rate back to 0, then tune slowly till you get to it. There is also a % on the right screen which you can use to tune to 100% instead of the colors, but yeah, the knobs control a RATE not a set frequency.  

If it's any consolation, first time I did the tutorial I basically gave up on figuring out the machine, had a friend watch over my shoulder when I played my first session after who helped me figure out how it works. And once it clicks, it's honestly not too bad. Just making it click first is the hard part :P
