Description
Runtime: 12:10

DAW: Ultrabox (Modded Beepbox)

Genre: Electronic

Game's Story:
You plan a fun beach day with your friends. Except, on that beach day, you accidentally woke up late, and the sun is already dipping in the horizon! How terrible! You rush to the beach, your friends has probably gone by now. But what do you know, they're still there. One of them walks up to you and asks why you were late. After you explained that you woke up late, he tells you that everyone has to leave in half an hour. You panic, half an hour? What can you supposed to do in half an hour? And so it begins, there are five activities you must do before 30 minutes is up; Volley, Fishing, Building Sandcastles, Swimming, Surfing

Track 1 - Late Morning
Plays during the opening cutscene, the player wakes up thinking it's still day time, and finds out it's almost night.

I played around with my keyboard to get the melody I had. I started with the drum pattern, then I wrote the melody and chords.

Track 2 - As The Tides Wave
Plays throughout the beach.

Again, I started with the drums, then I wrote the chords and one note bass lines, and wrote the melody.

Track 3 - Before The Beach Sleeps
Plays when doing an activity besides fishing.

I wanted to play around with percussions with this one, and again, I started with the drum line, then the chords and melody.

Track 4 - Even The Fish Sleep
Plays while fishing

I started with the drum line again, and then chords, then melody but with a guitar instrument this time

I think the carefree beach day vibe comes through really well. I also liked how you used recurring melodies across different tracks, helps everything feel cohesive.

Good job!

thanks!

While the story could use a little work, the music itself has a very chill and intriguing vibe. I like you used reverb and chorus to give it more of a lo-fi sound. Nice job!

thank you!

Very nice job on the first track. Your entry overall give me some old ps2 games, might have to do with your sound's choice

Developer

thanks! i didnt really think about that, but it kinda does lol ;D

I really liked those, especially with the sea noises in the background! It gave me major Wii vibes, and I enjoyed the listen. Great job, especially for the first jam!

Developer

The story might sound basic but I actually think it's a very original idea for a indie video game ahah, good creativity on that ! I like how the vibe is like summerish but during a bad trip sort of which reflects well the mindset of the character. It misses something rememberable about the theme I'd say, and maybe a bit more variation, but good first jam, keep it up :) !

Love the premise, it's funny and charming, as is the music! As Jofes mentioned, these tracks sound so similar in feeling, yet remain very distinct, which is a fantastic thing. I think the textures you use along with the ambience and sound design does a great job of conveying the scene you're going for. Great job!

Developer

thank you for the feedback! im happy you liked the story and music!

The tempo change in the first song is really nice!

I think the story you laid out fits the music quite well. the swelling chords give the music the feel of the oceans ebb and flow.

I greatly appreciate the fact that the songs are all distinct in vibe while feeling connected. 12 minutes of the same type of music can be hard so the different styles really makes them more enjoyable to listen to back to back.
