Great work, you nailed the fantasy vibe, the mixing in general is pretty good, maybe a bit loud sometimes. Great and consistent composition throughout the whole work tho and impressive how many complete tracks you were able to create with little time. I think Copper Town kind of "killed" the epic magical vibe, I think it's maybe too quirky and does not fit with the other tracks (arguably the same with Mud Golem, but I actually liked that one). Elder Tempest and Credits (great final track) were my favorites. Overall this is a really good submission!

Really could have used a streaming service or at minimum put all the songs into a zip file that way we would only have to download 1 thing instead of 7.

I think more details about ways it fits into the theme would also be good.

The mix overall could use some work. Instruments feel too loud at parts and crowded in the middle when a lot plays at once.

I liked the variety and that no one track overstayed it's welcome. They were all short and sweet with some cool ideas in terms of orchestration.

Mud Golems them was probably my favorite for its unique and fun vibe.

The piano in Elder Tempest really reminded me of something I made a while ago which was interesting for me.

The Dirt festival also 100% reminded me of the shops in old Zelda games like four swords with the rhythm part.

I really liked the composition, especially irt the drum parts! many cool rhythmic ideas going on in there. It's hard to pick a favorite but Copper Town and the Credits song were high on my list for sure. Definitely could imagine going through the game with those songs playing in the background :)

It is a nice album and great overall, but i feel like some minor issues I can point out

Intro's bass sections feel too fat for me, overpowering the piece

Lack of legato also irks me, but it is understandable and may be part of the style.

Also, looking at the way it was made it seems you used an engraver. This is pretty cool, as I use one too, so its nice that this was made with that restriction in place. I am curious, what samples did you use? And how did you master the entire thing?

Developer

I made it with flat.io (notation software). I was going to use Berlin Free Orchestra but didn't have time to transfer from notation software to DAW, so the samples are the instruments built in to Flat.

Good stuff here! My critique for you would just to be to double check your audio levels! I believe at about a minute into Elder tempest your audio starts to clip in the left headphone. Other than that, good work!

Loved the opening, but Copper Town and Mud Golem's Theme were my favorites. I liked the epic ending on Elder Tempest too. Nice soundtrack with some great variety!

Opening theme - Sounds kinda SNES, strong opener.

Copper town - Cool chord progression. The piano voicings will gell more and sound less blocky if you use different inversions, worth a try to see how it affects the sound. The sax melody seems a little too out, the chord changes are doing the heavy lifting for creating interest, so I think if the sax melody just hit chord tones and kept in the sound of the chords it would be really hip.

Petrification - Fun 5/4 idea, feel like a good time signature is subtle about the fact that it's not 4/4, and it feels natural here, although the rhythm of the melody clashes in an unsatisfying way at some points.

Mud Golem's theme - classic sing sing sing track! Would be cool to hear some harmonised horns on this one, there are some great resources on how to do this convincingly, just type big band arranging pdf or something of the sort.

Elder tempest - Very dark piano centered piece, reminds me of tigran hamasyan. Definitely check him out if you haven't already. Could see this breaking out into a heavy riff like one of his songs.

Dirt Festival - Strong rhythmic motif, uplifts everything else really nicely.

Credits - Cool 6/8 idea, feels like it's missing low end, like a strong bass guitar line.

Nice work doing so much in a week! Hope you had fun making it and find some use from my ideas/recommendations!

Is the soundtrack available on streaming platforms? Do you have a file containing all your songs?

Developer

No, sorry, but I could upload it to somewhere. Where would you recommend I upload it?
