Description
[Genres]: Ambience, Suspense(?), Some parts Pop(???)
[Game Description]: I'd imagine the game to be a Visual Novel very similar to the style of Until Then (which you should check it out btw it's amazing). It follows the MC navigating his world and trying to be there for his depressed friend.
[Track Representations]: Each track represents a scene in the story except for the last track, which would be the end credits music. You can check the descriptions of each song for the story.
[Method of Composition]: I mostly just tweaked around with some sound effects and samples until an idea came. For scenes like the climax in track 8, however, I carefully planned what would happen in the track and layered the effects appropriately.
[Software Used]: FL Studio 2025 & MuseScore 4
(sidenote: I apologize if the sound is actual dog water I did most of the work using headphones and only realized after that it's probably a bit too quiet at times)
(ALSO sidenote: the playlists say 11 sounds since track 8 has a normal and instrumental version since there might be some who just want to hear the music w/o the sfx and crap, there's only 10 in reality.)
Message from the artist
Have a wonderful day!
Theme

How does it fit the theme?
The main climax of the story takes place in The Summer Night, with the place being an old lake the two friends like to visit.

Thank you for listening! I was a bit worried that people would miss the story since I don't think I really did a good job of telling the narrative through the music alone, but I'm glad you still found it intriguing. I might try focusing on more silly projects for a while now since I think I went a bit too dark with this one, but I digress.
Either way, thank you for checking the game out and have a wonderful day (or night idk)! :D
You were right about the volume issues. It is REALLY quiet.
The switch-up in track 8 was super cool and a great way to refresh the listeners attention! The bassline was super intimidating!
I do wish that the OST kept more time for songs in the style of The Summer Night. It felt like it was one and done in terms of suspense. I can hear the suspense build slightly over the previous tracks, but another dread inducing track or replacing one of the other light ones I think might improve the pacing just a bit.
I also wanted more songs like The Joy because I just liked that ones vibes the best. Higher energy is what I like personally.
Thank you for the kind words! I understand what you mean by lack of suspense, I definitely put all my eggs into one basket with The Summer Night and kinda ran out of time to create other tracks of similarly suspenseful nature lol so I’ll try to improve pacing for future projects for both cheery and suspenseful tracks (or any kind of track ig lol).
Again, thanks for listening and have a wonderful night (or day idk)!
Great soundtrack, The First Time and The Joy were my favorites because of their whimsical and fun nature, but I appreciated the storytelling through the rest of the tracks still as well. Awesome job!
Thank you for listening! I'm glad you enjoyed the more light-hearted and whimsical tracks, honestly I felt like they lacked a bit of direction and I wasn't entirely sure how I was going to structure them, but it's nice to hear you still enjoyed them regardless.
Thank you again for commenting and have a great day!
This is beautiful!!! I think you did a great job with this OST. You somehow managed to perfectly blur the lines between cute melodies and creeping dread, which I imagine is not easy to do! However, these songs really needed some better mastering. They were really quiet overall and sometimes some parts, like your swells, would be VERY loud. That being said, this issue wasn't present enough to bring down the OST as a whole, it just caused an occasional shock, which I don't think was intended haha. Really great job though, I loved it!
Thank you for the kind words! As for the comments on mixing, I'll be sure to be more careful about it for future songs. I have somewhat poor hearing so I only realized after I submitted that the tracks were pretty quiet when compared to other songs lol. As for the swells, I did intend for them to be a tad bit loud to invoke a sense of panic (maybe?), but yeah in hindsight perhaps I went a bit too overboard on it lol so I'll keep this in mind for future tracks.
Again, thank you so much for listening and have a wonderful day! :D
Yeah I try not to be too harsh about mixing issues since I know a lot of people with hearing issues can have a hard time with it and while it's important, I definitely wouldn't want to lean into any elitist perspectives especially since even mixing can be very subjective. Also your swells definitely did what you wanted, just maybe a bit too well haha all is good though, have a wonderful day as well!
Wow, I loved this. Setting stuff like mix aside, this is just an amazing narrative work. You had a bunch of different tracks in various genres, but they all kinda flowed together somehow, and took me on an emotional roller coaster. Great job with the music and the descriptions to go with it, I thought the simple, yet sincere tone and arrangement worked really well with what you were going for. And the sound design in track 8 was awesome! The ending was also a great touch. I was moved by the OST, and honestly felt a bit drained after listening to the whole thing because the story and music resonated a lot with me, no other submission has really affected me in the way yours did. Really amazing work, and thanks for sharing this. (And I hope you got some sleep afterwards!)
Thank you so much for the kind words and I'm happy the OST moved you as I wasn't so sure if this narrative approach to an OST jam would work. I put my all into this and I'm quite satisfied with the product, and seeing others enjoy the soundscape and narrative even if certain things (*cough cough* Mixing *cough cough*) dragged it down makes me really happy.
Once again, thank you for commenting and have a spectacular day!
(P.S., I did indeed get some sleep afterwards :D)
Thank you for listening! Funny story abt the voice, I was originally planning on using Siri but couldn't figure out how to get it to work so I just used the robotic one instead lol (uhh ok kind, of a mid story in hindsight but I digress). I'm glad you enjoyed the progression of the darker aspects within the tracks too. Have an amazing day! :D
The range of tone in this project is awesome. From relaxing piano based pieces, uptempo happy grooves, and the incredible eeriee soundscapes, you nailed the storytelling. Loved the bleedthrough of the more haunting vibes into the end of 'The Promise'. 'The Summer Night' was awesome and the vibe switch was unexpected, but very welcomed. Switching to the more somber, mellow feeling of track 9 after the intensity of track 8 was a great touch.
As others have already stated, I do also wish some of the mixing was a bit better. But I hate to critique mixing, as it can be a very tedious task.
My biggest piece of advice for the next jam would be to try and dial back the quantity of tracks for your submission so you can nail the quality of tracks a bit better. Would have loved to see a bit more variety in the groovier aspects of the project, as the repetition of some of the sections can get a bit stale.
Sick submission overall, loved the concept. Keep it up!
Thank you for the kind words and I will be sure to keep in mind the quality > quantity of tracks thing. I tend to get carried away with the story I want to tell and end up adding way more tracks than I should along with sacrificing quality... hehe...
But anyways, thanks again for commenting and have a fantastic day!
The mood shift on track 8 that then is followed by the minecraft esq piano stuff, just wow... really loved that one, good thing I didn't spoil it by reading the comments 😁
A bit lofi quality wise on some of the tracks, but good stuff nonetheless, good job!
I'm happy you enjoyed the shift in tone of track 8 and the stuff after, I put a lot of thought into those parts and it makes me happy to see they interested you. As for the lofi quality, I'll keep this in mind for future jams so the songs sound more polished. Thank you for commenting, have a wonderful day :D
I really liked the atmosphere you built with track 8! The tension around the opening bit with the text message leading into some unique sound design was so cool, especially after listening to music with a happier feel to it!
With regards to your mixing and mastering, composing with headphones is exactly what you were supposed to do! While you're mixing the tracks, it's important to make sure you watch the levels, which I believe is the little meter at the top center of your screen (I use Ableton personally so my levels are in a different spot), that way you know your songs are mixed well even if the headphone volume might be lower!
I'm glad you enjoyed the tension of track 8, it was the track I definitely spent most work on so seeing someone appreciate really means a lot (even if it probably could have been better). I'll also be sure to take note of your mixing advice so I can make use of them for future projects or games, so thank you for that!
Have an amazing day!
Listening through this right now. I am really impressed with the sheer volume of work here. Im sure it took a while to get all this put together and its really nice to see all the individual screenshots because I can pair the instruments and sounds in my head.
The first song was quite a bit different from the rest of the tracks so moving between them pleasantly surprised me. It feels like you really could just import this into an existing game and it would work. You do good work!
