The 2nd track was fun and goofy. It reminded me of some of the more memorable tracks from the Katamari series. This was a ton of fun.

Description
The basic idea for a story would revolve around attending a beach party in an RPG style setting. Based around talking to different people, solving small puzzles and whatnot while acquiring equip-able items and uncovering a deeper story (Crab people?).
The first track would definitely serve as an introduction to the beach setting / beginning as you come to meet side characters and get comfortable at the party. Maybe a small conflict/foreshadowing is established, but nothing major is given away yet in the plot line. Overall peaceful introduction.
The second track would serve as the transition from the tutorial/intro into actual combat and storytelling. First boss fight comes in for this song, maybe in the form of a giant crab on the beach (which was suggested to me during playback in mixing). Still a rather upbeat track, no conflict in story yet, but cracks are beginning to show in a narrative/problem.
The third track is where we're finally introduced to some conflict, as implied in the title. While the minor threat has been slain (crab boss) there is a new problem... no beer. So the heroes have to embark on a party system adventure (final fantasy style) to go obtain some more of the top shelf. I think this track is especially suited for traveling music, whether it be walking or by vehicle. Character arcs and their relationships between each other are established here on the road. (This would likely be the bulk of the game play, certainly a couple of major foes are vanquished on the quest)
The fourth and final* song has a darker and more sinister undertone. It would probably be used near the middle-end of the game, either at a plot twist or 'all hope is lost' scenario, but not the deciding fate of our protagonists. As they gear up for their final and most intense confrontation, they know it is do or die, all or nothing. Beer or bail. (I did intend on making a very epic, final showdown metal shredding style song for the last boss, but I ran out of time, I had a busy week unfortunately.)
*The final and kind of unofficial song is a earlier version of the song "We're Out of Time (and Beer!) and while originally going by the wayside, it kind of got stuck in my head for a while, and I thought it would probably be okay to slap on at the end since there's enough different in the song to be considered it's own thing entirely. In the case that it's not okay though, just judge the official non remix version, or whichever you think is better haha. I think this could be still a very cool addition to the "game" either as credits music, or as unlock-able bonus? Either way I had a lot of fun making these tracks, and this is my first OST jam ever so I'm sorry for being a noob lol,
Genre- I don't like putting music into genres, but if i had to describe it I would say it's where video game music meets hip hop beats a little bit, with every other influence peppered in there as well. Strait up synth bops
Runtime-The runtime for this soundtrack is just slightly over 13 and a half minutes, with 3 minutes of it being padded out with a remix of another song from this. I don't really consider them to be two different entries, I would like the official non-remix one to be judged. I just thought it would be cool because, it was the original form the song took, but I thought it didn't fit too well, but decided to include it at the end anyways.
Software- The DAWI used was Reaper, I used almost exclusively (free) synths for this project as I haven't done too much with synth in reaper before this. Here is a list of my VST's. Synths: PECS (Full Bucket Music), Helm (Matt Tytel), FB-7999 (Full Bucket Music), Dexed (Digital Suburban). I used the default Reaper plugins to mix the tracks (ReaEQ, ReaComp) with the exception of my UADx 1176 Compressor plugin i like to put on snares. I also used Valhalla Supermassive quite a bit in this, and I may have used the other two once or twice (FreqEcho and SpaceModulator)
Message from the artist
I hope you guys like it. I kept the songs a little short so they didn't drag on too long, but i think in a real game scenario they would probably be twice as long to not be so repetitive. Also that 'remix' is the original version of "We're Out of Time(and Beer!)" and i liked it too much to leave out.
Theme

How does it fit the theme?
I took more of a literal inspiration from the picture (the pier, the water, etc.) than any kind of vibe, but I think the first track could fit pretty well.

It has a lot of really creative ideas, I liked how you implemented them in the tracks, it really fed the vibes and the story. Excellent composition!
Nice Job with these - Boss Battle was definitely my favorite - I especially like how you incorporated the wave and bird sounds into the track - This one just stood out to me but all are good tracks and I thought the quality was good you really produced some nice tracks using free VST's
1 - Making Waves
Interesting ideas for sure, and a creative progression. The drums felt a bit loud and overpowering at times though, which is a shame as I do like the melody you have but it was a bit hard to hear even with my headphones. Overall pretty good.
2 - Boss Battle With Beer
This reminds me a bit of the goofy songs you hear in splatoon level themes. I love that vocal sounding synth that carries throughout and how it changes between melody and supporting roles throughout. Similar thing where drums and supporting aspects (like the bird sounds and swells) feel a little bit loud, but its much less noticeable here. I of the two melody synths you used here I like the second one more, the reverb it has helps it fit a bit better with everything else.
3 - We are out of Time
This one is pretty cute, I think your balancing of all the elements is handled well here! I think you should probably use a filter to remove some of the high end in your instruments though, there were some spots that sounded very piercing (I do have hearing problems that accentuate this, but still something to keep note of.
4 - When The Party is Over
I think in terms how how you executed your storytelling this is your strongest track, I really feel the darker vibes you said you were going for here and you keep it interesting to listen to throughout by subtly changing up elements. I would have been interested to see what a swell throughout this piece would have sounded like to lead up to that boss theme you described, but this was still effective.
Nice to hear your work, thanks for your submission!
The noises in Boss Battle with Beer are cool. Specifically that synth that plays more rhythmic stuff. It kind of sounds like a voice. It was goofy and fitting for the theme of the track I think.
It was my favorite of the tracks too.
Making waves - cool sound, great opening/menu theme. The second half of the song, after about the minute mark there's a clash that I think could use resolving. D in the second chord (Db major) in the synth pad could be moved.
Boss battle with beer - cool dance track, needed some bigger moments I think. Maybe some extra layers, boost the kick and snare a little, a heavy lead synth.
We're out of time - same thing I think, strong ideas, feels a bit empty, add a couple drum fills every so often to spice it up too!
When the party is over - really great track! Drums throw me a little, I think if something else followed the rhythm of the hi hat it would reinforce it a bit. (Of if something does, turn it up in the mix)
Remix - I guess same comments apply, I like the variations! I did something similar with mine where I made boss track versions of themes.
Great soundtrack, had a strong sense of style and good ideas!
Great stuff, you really captured that nice RPG vibe! I especially loved the first track, Making Waves, it just feels so right for the beginning of an RPG, and the way it has slightly darker undertones is also amazing. Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed listening to this!
