3D!!!
Love the Retro-Cyberpunk style :)
Really great 3D style! Very retro and hip. Also love to see the "Submitted 55 seconds before the deadline" :D
Nice prototype, I like the style of the visuals. Hope you continue working on it.
Thank you! I do plan to. There are many things I'd like to implement to see what I can accomplish with Defold (and hopefully make a fun mech game)
well, you made me fall in love with a new genre, now I've got to go and download world of tanks XD
Happy to help, haha - thanks!
Great to see a 3D project! Visuals are definitely nice and in style! Controls are smooth, enemies are very good at aiming actually, but I think I'm invincible here :D Though I used the covers and had fun playing it - it's a great prototype. The only minus is the sound of shoots not being gated. After a moment of playing you only hear repeating sound over and over, but this is a very small cost for making a 3D shooter in couple of days! Great job!
Thanks! Yes, I wasn't able to finish a few things (logic for when the player's health reaches 0, particles for hits and enemy destruction, respawning, a score display, occlusion checks for the AI so they're not always aiming at your and shooting when you enter their visibility triggers :P).
Haha, yes, the shots are horrendous. I saved the sound manager code until the day of submissions and it certainly shows. I saw the post about gating in the docs, but wasn't able to properly implement it before submission time. Oh well!
astrochili's Kinematic Walker and Operator extensions were extremely helpful for this :)
I dont see enemy but there is a shooting sound :D It seems nice visually did you model it yourself?
Yeaaah, I made the mistake of saving the sound manager for last -- something happened when I tried to gate sounds so they don't overlap and I couldn't fix it before the submission :P. I was never able to finish the actual gameplay elements either - definitely more of a prototype at the moment.
Thanks! I'm new to Blender, but once I found a good workflow it was much easier to use (and after watching some tutorials:
The grid is made from a world space shader and I used a custom render target to lower the resolution of the game but not the UI, as well as apply some post-processing effects like vignetting and dithering.
GLSL shaders are great!
Cool to see 3D submissions to the jam. I like the visuals and the fact that you do not have to worry about ammo amount so I can spam them to the enemies all the time :)
Yeah, I wanted to see how Defold would hold up with 3D -- it's a lot easier with astrochili's plugins/libraries.
Reloads and limits are so ... limiting :P
Interesting prototype.. always been a fan of that wireframe look. Good work!
Thanks - same here! I need to learn not to over-scope though : P
took me a while to figure out who was shooting me lol! GREAT STUFF!!
Haha, yeah -- I didn't have time to add raycast occlusion checks to the AI's visibility colliders, so they ... see you through everything and just blast away : P
