Just a little bit of boiler plate playdate code I'd previously written.

The original goal was top have a balloon try and become the sun, but that got cut a little short! Overall, the balloon is still ascending!

Great use of constraining yourself to a simple idea and control scheme! I loved bouncing around and abusing learby walls to gain a lot of height quickly. That feels really good and players get to discover this dynamically by just playing around. The difficulty curve was very irregular and the looping to the side is something that I generally didn't quite understand how it affects enemies and collectables. Sadly I couldn't finish it.
A simple concept executed really well. I found some of the sections infuriating, but in a good way; I spent a fair bit of time playing this.
I wasn’t able to finish this but I had a lot of fun dying along the way. :D
This game is excellent! I played it from start to finish and only died about a hundred times on the 4x circular flies level toward the end. I actually played the entire thing in landscape orientation because I didn't realize I needed to turn the console to play it properly. Lots of fun and could definitely be developed into a serious game if you wanted to!
Thats was cool, nice one! At first I didn't register turning the playdate vertical and that was a cool touch.
Maybe not intentional but you can play it as a descent I guess as a helium baloon that went too far and is trying to get back. I prefered the controls on the right hand, so that worked better for me and didn't really took anything from the game.
The simple control scheme is so gooood! I think adding the crank might have muddied the simplicity, so I like that it stuck with this kinda input! ....And I'm so glad it doesnt put me back to the first screen every time, a bless you for that :D
I have ascended! lol good stuff. Only found 3 coconuts, not sure how I missed those since I'm pretty sure I picked up everything but I'll take making it to the endscreen!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! And there are a few secrets off the beaten path to find the other coconuts :)
Note: requires rotating the playdate by 90 degrees to fulfill the theme criteria :D
Great game, great use of LDtk (and PDParticles ;) ), fun and simple to follow. Hopefully it's not just because I'm using the simulator, but it's too bad the crank (and blowing into the microphone :P ) are not used to orient and to push the balloon! Either way for Simulator accessibility it was perfect ;)
Overall: great little game, simple and fun! Great job!
Thanks, glad you liked it! And no, unfortunately I ran of time for crank controls, I had a busy weekend and couldn't start until Sunday morning, so it took all the time I could carve out to get it playable where it was. Using the crank for that was the original intent! I didn't even consider blowing into the microphone, so perhaps I need to get a post jam version out with those features :D
