The puzzles are fun to figure out! The core mechanics of the game are great and I'm sure you could make many levels out of those. I think it has just the right amount of mind-bending while still not having too much to think about ("there are only so many possible moves I could do, this can't be that difficult"). The levels not being too busy is a good thing. There were definitely a few "aha" moments in there.

The controls are a bit hard to grasp and while I do see the effort you made to make them clearer I think the game still needs a bit more, notably with the vertical shift mechanic. I think all the controls being always on-screen  with a visual indication of what they will do would be the best. Thankfully, the undo being always available makes this a relatively minor issue.

While I was stuck on one of the levels, I encountered what I think is a bug or half-implemented mechanic allowing me to walk on a box when it's on the side of a white block. At first I thought this was the solution, but as soon as I started shifting it started to break, with the box and the cat moving to impossible floating positions. (The actual solution involved falling through the edges of the screen which was quite clever). I'm sure you could make levels out of that mechanic though, once you fix it!

As a minor nitpick, I think the vertical shift takes just a bit too long and the sound is just a bit too annoying for an action you're sometimes meant to do several times in quick succession.

Thanks for playing,

I agree about the controls. I'll be reworking the controls in future version and add an option for visual indicators for all directions,

The box thing is a bug but making it a proper mechanic is an interesting idea. Thank you for the suggestion.

This game is a little intimidating at first because of how we can die immediately, as in before knowing what’s happening or how to feel out the controls. The instructions were a little confusing with the R for Restart vs. (outdated?) X for Redo. But it certainly wasn’t too hard to figure out what to do.

The narration is amusing. The graphics style is cool, adding to the surreal experience of jumping around void-like realities. I felt the sounds are especially fun. The cat is making the decision to jump but still makes an involuntary-sounding noise when pulled. The music is chill yet funky; I love it.

I'm really impressed by your games B-Deshi! Nice to see Compress(space) getting more and more polished and now seeing another really cool prototype for Cat Shift Operator. You have a great sense of style even in the early prototype phase. Cat Shift Operator reminds me of if Patrick's Parabox  had a baby with Baba is You.

I love the simple, but effective graphics and the soundtrack fits the game perfectly!

I managed to get up to the level about "baths and reverse psychology" and then got stuck. Granted I am not a real programmer and don't know about bit-shift operations, but the game always felt smarter than me. The game definitely shows how smart *you* are, but I think with these types of puzzle games the holy grail is if you can make the player feel smart(er than they actually are).

I'm embarrassed to say I didn't even understand the 2nd tutorial level and only managed to advance through levels by luck and trail and error. Shifting along "positive axis" and "negative axis" confused me. Is it the positive/negative axis of the screen? relative to the cat? Relative to the UI "A" and "D" arrows? To my smooth brain the shifting controls seemed to act inconsistently; when I thought I understood it, the behavior of shifting changed depending on the platforms in the level. Additionally, shifting is confusing because "A" and "D" are always relative to the cat, but "W" and "S" aren't? Thank you for the undo button, it made the confusion less painful.

Take this with a big grain of salt, but my proposed solution would be to have the controls always relative to the cat and consistent in expectation by making the cat always upright in screen space and rotating/flipping the level  in relation to the cat.

Overall, brilliant game as always, but for me the fun comes with understand the rules/mechanics of a puzzle game and successfully applying them, which I wasn't able to do without trail and error.

Thanks for playing again. Agree that the controls are inconsistent. Positive and negative are indeed relative to screen(down and left are negative, up and right are positive) I initially did have everything relative to the cat but that meant shift direction flipping after each shift. But I've gotten a lot of feedback on the controls and will rethink it.

Yes, it is!

Played and solved the whole game! A great idea! Sometimes the shift result was barely predictable bcuz of confusion of the axis shift direction, so [Undo] option was a nice thing. Sometimes the crates were floating in the air after shift - I'm not sure if it was intended or not. Overall, the game gives a decent amount of fun. Ы!
