It is worse than your previous game. It is ridiculously difficult: escaping high stat monsters is too unreliable to be of any use, the monsters have way too high stats compared to the player at start (in the old game the difficulty slowly ramped up and could be controlled by player), the player can run out of stamina in town, the bag of spilling that is your inventory can't be recovered by going back to the coordinates of your collapse (it makes item collecting missions frustrating).  Finding new weapons is a problem now as they are random loot with no reliable path that spits them out. Compounding that is you can find crazy weapons at the start, but the main character wants to keep his single digit attack sword rather than a weapon with double digit attack stats.

Right now there is only one viable play style to the game which is to raise your corruption as fast as you can and hope to find a replacement weapon soon. Armor doesn't matter stats wise as the player is always given first strike, so it can be ignored like in your last game.

Solutions: make the bless sword an actually viable weapon. The less corruption you have the better the stats on the sword, you something similar with dynamic stats on a weapon in your previous game (the dildo sword).

Recover your items from a failed excursion, not even the full bag just a portion of the contents.

other thoughts: the map really isn't that useful as it is, perhaps make the whole 9x9 square of the town area viewable in a single map frame. The map disappears when you enter the dungeon proper, so it is only use is while in town. The only downside to this method is if you want to grow (or shrink) the town's size.

With the player rebuilding the town (taking the blacksmith quest as an example of future quest lines to restore the town), maybe borrow some ideas from Dark Cloud games (have people trapped in the dungeon you need to rescue). My understanding for why you created this game is you wanted more PC-NPC interaction, well what better way to get them to interact than interior design! My joke aside, the town area is really big compared to all the locations from the previous game, so I am assuming there will be more places added to this game than were in the last.

All I seem to do is encounter rubble piles which contain completely useless crap that I can't put down even in my house, and monsters which are like 3 times stronger than I am which I have no chance whatsoever of beating.

The few ventures I've made all work the same way:
Leave the house.

Pick a random direction and walk in it, it doesn't seem to matter which direction because everything looks the same.

Encounter piles of rubble and pick up rocks or wood or scrap iron, none of which I can use.

Run into some monster that easily beats the crap out of me and forces themselves on my unconscious body. I can't do much exploring because I get beaten to a pulp if I get any distance in any direction.

Am I supposed to lose to the monsters? Like some domination thing? They're so much stronger than I am that I don't see any other purpose to them. There doesn't seem to be any 'combat' as such.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to items or monsters being more or less powerful in certain locations, like in most RPG's. You'd usually expect that areas closest to your start point would have weaker monsters and lesser treasure but I haven't seen that. It's all the same.
I don't know. I've never played one of your games before so maybe that's it. I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing and don't see any purpose to this game.

I have to agree with the above posters, the previous first game was much better. You were in a town, you had a reason to be there it made sense; it got you invested  in the story and you had some footing. Now???
I wake up basically in a wilderness I wander around in a random direction having no idea what to do
I find crap I cant store

I get exhausted and lose it

which I dont care b.c there seems to be nothing to do with it

and then wander around some more with no real sense of place

images are random so the same square is not static making things confusing,  a tree for example is not always at the same location etc

so like ...what exactyl is the imagined first 2 hours of gameplay loops suposed to be?

there is no hints, no quest no nothing just - boop town gone , see ya wander around aimless okay...

*shrugs*

Finally found the tavern and the shrine, though they seem to appear randomly as I had already searched those areas before, once I got to the tavern and tried to talk to Owen , gamer crashed, and could not get it to work anymore. Clear cache, hard restart etc.

was a fan of your last game, was pretty cool, this one is rough man, seriously rough.

just make the town a list of places to go man, the walking around thing looking for buildings? total waste of code and stuff , adds nothing to the experience.; other than confusion and frustration.

I'm stuck and not sure what to do. I'm at the point in the game where i'm going through the different gate depths and have no clue how to get back. i'm on gate 16, the wand just takes me back to gate 5 and I'm slowly running out of food. the mission from Owen just says to explore the lower depths, but is there a depth i need to get to or has this part of the game not been finished? Currently very confused.
