This game definitely has a "Klik'n Play" vibe to it and I mean that in the best way possible. I like that it doesn't take itself seriously. The box-carrying animation is adorable and by the end those boxes felt a bit like the Companion Cube in Portal. I also appreciate you can play with the map open and with a gamepad!

There is definitely some jankiness to it. For one, the music stopped playing at some point (though it was becoming repetitive, so I didn't mind too much). The worst for me was the double jump being super finicky. I couldn't pull it off reliably. I'm also not quite sure how to dash? I'm not even sure I ever used this ability? Avoiding the bullets at the end of the boss fight felt impossible, but thankfully he got stuck in a loop and I could shoot him many times in a row and win.

I think what I enjoyed the most were the surprises. There were multiple instances of the game staging something weird and surprising, which was delightful.

Good job! :)

thanks, glad you enjoyed,

as always with these jams I should spend more time getting the mechanics down but I get carried away with those wierd/surprising moments actual gameplay takes a back seat.

The Boss was supposed to have more attack. patterns, but as is it's just a coin flip between whether he will do "lazer eyes" (yes I know it doesn't look like lazer eyes) , or clock in/out. With only 2 states and no direct checking he can get caught doing one or the other way too many times in a row. Even so without the dash, I am surprised you managed to beat him!

This recall my memory of some 00s free game, and I almost forget I can dash before I need dash to dodge boss attack.

Developer

thanks, I hope a 00s  free game you enjoyed? Yes Ideally I would have put more reasons to put the dash in before the boss so it was more obvious, how to avoid the target

oh, my bad. I forgot to say I pretty enjoy it.
I'm the guy who don't care graphic style, so always forgot there have some people say it as condemn.

There was some jankiness but this was really delightful! The final stage of the boss was so hard to dodge but the comic value was enough to persist to victory. I’m really thankful you had gamepad support though it looks like you missed the map button.

Developer

yeah no map button which was just laziness.. glad you enjoyed (jankiness and all), did you get the good or the bad ending? (There's only slightly different sprites and text between the 2)

Developer

oh and I should have put more reasons to practice the dodge before end boss as it's basically impossible without, and I should have tweaked the difficulty ,(which is what the one person who play tested recommended). Time was the enemy!

Maybe the good ending? Seemed good to me, ending with fame and fortune (I don’t remember the exact wording). Good on you for getting any playtests at all, it’s always my intent to have something playable by the 2nd week but 100% of the time it’s only playable the day before submission.

Well done, I had a lot of fun with this one. Proper utility-based progression with pretty good map design. Flying with the kick early on was nice. And that boss at the end, really funny.

Audio is glitchy in the web build but otherwise it ran well. I think the player's collision box was a bit big as it sometimes seemed I would be hit by the enemy without the sprites actually touching.

Developer

thanks glad you enjoyed it.... the sprite collisions are a bit janky and I should have really shrunk the collision sprites (it's all per pixel but they should have been smaller to give a little leeway)

Congrats on making the game. It was a pretty funny game to play; you can even fly with the kick.

I got punished for breaking the game's sequence.

Developer

punished how? What happened?

The 2 clockworks  I think. on the far left where the heal pack is, I can't get out because I keep pushing me back to the right

Developer

With the cogs? I think that is mostly poor  level design on my part I will patch the level. Thanks!

We can talk on the Discord thread for more details

Developer

and yeah I know about the dash flying ;) it is because the coyote time kicks in after the dash, which allows you to jump again within a window after the dash ending. I decided to leave in as I quite enjoyed it :)
