bug report first ?
- down arrow key not work
- got stack in wall by queen ant attack
- screen turn black and nothing happen after beaten by mob attack (spear) and beat that mob at same time
- after restart the game, extra cheeze on gearhold respawn and got my 7th cheeze
- is the game suppose to stop at ending screen without any control ? or it's freeze ?

great work, I don't actual get the story but this dose not change my rating.
up and down attack almost useless in my play though, attack enemy on top or bottom only have risk to lost your cheeze. is there any use for them ?

I like the art style, and the controls are tight. Some of the best wall-climbing I've seen, really easy to pull it off.

I found the checkpoints too spread out, but that's probably because I suck at metroidvanias :)

Free Cheez I love it!

Was there a map? I think I bought one.. but couldn't seem to  bring it up.

really great entry

You open the map with Tab!

Nice feeling game. Good atmospheric music. I got to the Spider boss fight. I like the music change in the boss fight.

A bit annoying having to replay the tutorial , would be nice to have a checkpoint right after it, or even on every screen during the tutorial.

The controls are a bit frustrating. To attack up or down you need to let go of the side move (A or D) which is clunky., would be better if you attack up or down if you hold up or down, even if you also hold A or D.

Stellar entry! It was actually Phixer and Fantom that gave me the courage to try making a metroidvania myself so I was really excited to see what you’d do with more time. I also was initially confused by the first boss but that set the stage well for the rest being more “puzzles”. I think my only real suggestion would be a more detailed map and 75% in I forget about a path I hadn’t tried and wandering started to feel a little tedious.

The secrets were well spread out, I really enjoyed the writing and atmosphere. I also hit a lot of issues with the ant queen, the initial shockwave would frequently lock me against the wall, I think it took 4 retries. I was very thankful how well checkpointed it was, I hate when I accidentally stumble on a boss because I randomly chose a door.

Also, I love his feet, the run and glide animations just crack me up.

Quite a solid entry for this jam; the art and audio work are very nice. The movement feels responsive, and the map is quite large. The Fish is the best scene, in my opinion.

Here are some notes/feedback I had during the gameplay:

  • First, the up and down arrow keys didn't work for me for some reason, so there was no down jump or up-down attack.
  • While the movement, jumping, and movement speed feel very natural, the jump still feels a bit strict for this game.
  • The combat is just kind of there; the abilities don't help much. I think the enemy invincibility frames are too long, or maybe when an enemy attacks me, I can't attack them back.
  • The boss feels very confusing. Why can't I attack? (I figured it out, though).
  • I encountered bugs with the Ant boss where I couldn't move after the boss's state switched. I had to reset/continue a few times to get it to work.
  • The collision in the Book area feels wrong; the collision box is smaller than it looks, and sometimes I got stuck and had to jump over things.

That's about it. Again, congratulations on making it.
